Good sushi and teriyaki chicken amazing miso soup! Poor customer service, lady scooted our table forward while we were sitting down because there were people behind us, not that we minded moving it was that she didn’t ask us if we were okay with it, she just did it. They took forever to take our order, understood that they were busy but it was like they were ignoring our table. At one point the lady came over and walked away. Good food just bad experience with customer service.

It was fine. Most of the food was decent and the service was good. I liked that they had vegetarian Gyoza, that made me very happy but the sushi was eh. I would go back for the Gyoza though... so I guess that made it better. I'm iffy on 3/4 stars. But since I would go back for the Gyoza I went with 4.

I enjoy this Mio location. Every time I've been in, it's nice and quiet. The wait staff is super friendly and will answer any questions about the menu. The fish is always fresh and tastes like it. On top of that they keep the Sapporo at the PERFECT temp!

I recommend going to any other Mio Sushi. Don't waste your time going to the Hawthorne location!

  1. my nigiri arrived warm
  2. I was never brought my appetizer. And there was only 2 other customers in the restaurant. This wasn't such a problem until strike 3.
  3. I wasn't able to eat one type of my nigiri bc of the sauce so I left it untouched on my plate and put it opposite of me on the table, still waiting for my appetizer. The waitress instead brings my check and offers to bring a box for the nigiri. I ask about my appetizer and decline the box. She says she'll have them make my appetizer and wants to know if I'll be eating the nigiri leftover on my plate. I tell her no, I can't eat it bc of the sauce.

She then gets angry with me and demands to know why I would order something if I can't eat it. I tell her I've never seen it prepared that way so how would I know I couldn't eat it?

At that point I just asked her to run my card bc I wanted to be leaving. I didn't feel like waiting for my appetizer. I'm not going to tolerate rude behavior and demands bc I'm not psychic. Their menu didn't alert me that the nigiri I ordered could be prepared differently then what...

Mio Sushi is a weird vibe to walk into. It's definitely a chain, but it's really cluttered like it's someone's small family biz.

I went in and it was slow, with only 2 other tables present. I was served really quickly. I ordered the yakitori and two rolls.

The food is pretty bad, unfortunately. I had the shrimp tempura roll and a roll with eel in it (can't remember exact name). The eel was slimy and both rolls were covered in a "sweet sauce" which was maybe what was making all of it taste kind of "funky."

I never received the yakitori, which was fine, because by the time I was done with the rolls, I wasn't really eager to stick around based on how bad the sushi was.

This was my second time in, with my first one being a few years ago. I was hoping that the quality had improved but it has not.

Portland has a bunch of great sushi places all over the city, so it's wild to me that there are places that can stay open when the quality of their sushi doesn't even match what you can get at the grocery store. With Fred Meyer being only a couple blocks away, I'd rather get sushi there than...

Overall good spot! Service is spotty- friendly, but they leave you for long periods and they never bring your a spoon for the soup- maybe you're supposed to drink it traditionally? But it seems usually there's the Asian-style scoop spoon a lot of places bring you... The sushi is good and there are a quite few good veggie options. Nothing too crazy or innovative, but solid nonetheless. Happy hour deals on rolls could be better, but you may find more options if you actually eat fish, so my review may not apply to the...
