I've only tried Katie Made bakery once. Here is my good experience!
My s/o and I came into the restaurant and were greeted right away. In the same breath, we were asked what we were going to order. (Being our first time, we wanted to check out the menu before ordering.)I let her know that we would probably be getting a sandwhich. She told me that they had both breakfast and lunch sandwiches available. I thanked her. While glancing at the menu another associate asked what we were going to order. We'd only been looking at the menu for 30 seconds or so, and hadn't decided. At that point, we just hurried and ordered.
The fully loaded breakfast sandwhich with sausage AND bacon, eggs, mushroom, onions and provolone was the clear choice. It only comes with one meat, but having both sounded delicious. We also asked what bakery good was the favorite. The cashier named a few favorites and the clear winner for me sounded like the strawberry & cheese danish. Yumm!
A gentlemen came in after us and clearly had a large order that he pre arranged. Before starting my sandwhich, the ladies behind the counter took care of collecting the last few items of his order first. We weren't in a hurry, so this wasn't that big of a deal.
Neither the breakfast sandwhich, nor the Danish had an ounce of disappointment. They both had rich flavor. I would order both of them again. They also carry CBD (coffee by design) coffee which is one of my favorites in Portland. We didn't want to order a coffee, so we didn't get any on this day.
I'd like to try their cakes, tortes and...
Read moreI was excited to try this place and tried to order a cake well in advance for a birthday. However, the owner was very rude to me both on the phone and in person. She does not return phone calls at all. So I tried to put an order in in person when I got to her store she bitterly told me “if you need a cake this weekend you’re out of luck”. I told her I would need one in a weeks time to which she told me she could only fulfill a chocolate cake order. I’m not sure what the difference of process between a chocolate or vanilla cake but why have menu options if you can’t fulfill them with plenty of notice? Her website also says she only needs 2 days notice. Either way, she was extremely rude about the whole thing and she needs to clearly communicate better if she’s...
Read moreA great place for breakfast or lunch (or brunch).
Katie Made Bakery sits on the East End , right on Munjoy Hill.
Katie Made is one of my favorite places in Portland to eat. The pastries are delectable (you seriously need to try one of their cheese and strawberry danishes - I get one every time I go), and the breakfast and lunch options are to die for (for lunch, I often get the Cuban sandwich, which has real slow-cooked meats). The owners are the ones cooking and preparing the food, and are the nicest people.
There isn't a lot of seating, so at times it can be a grab-n-go place but in the summer they have tables outside. Parking is only on-street.
Overall, due to the prices and great food quality - I would highly...
