Leavitt & Sons Deli- PORTLAND — Restaurant in Portland

I recently visited Leavitt & Sons Deli in Portland for the first time after driving by so many times. I hadn’t heard much about it in the community, but the moment I stepped inside, I knew I had been missing out. The variety of products they carried gave me confidence that the food would be great, and it absolutely delivered.

I decided to go with the steak and cheese, which was a little outside my usual order but still familiar enough. It came with mayo, something I don’t typically do, and while they didn’t have jalapeños, the banana peppers were a great substitute. I decided to eat there, and the atmosphere was fantastic—clean, inviting, and full of energy. They were busy, which is always a good sign, but the staff remained super friendly and efficient.

Now, the food. Let me just say: the steak and cheese was incredible. I was honestly shocked by how amazing it was. It’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had—and I’ve had my fair share, even in Philly. Everything about it was spot on, from the flavor to the quality of the ingredients. It blew me away.

This was an overall outstanding experience, and I’ll absolutely be back. I can easily see myself making this a regular spot. If you haven’t had the chance to stop by and grab lunch here, you’re missing out on something special. Portland is full of great food, but for a deli sandwich, Leavitt & Sons takes the crown. Hands down the best deli sandwich I’ve had in Portland....

I enjoy this food but have had several bad experiences when ordering from here. Today, I ordered a wrap and paid extra to add extra veggies to my wrap. After paying, picking up my order, and getting back to work, I opened my wrap to see the requested veggies were not added. I called and asked the customer service rep to remake my wrap. I work close and would be able to come back in as the wrap I received was not made right. They offered to give me the veggies on the side, OR refund me for the veggies only. I have worked in customer service and NEVER would I ask a customer to go out of their way or not appropriately compensate them for a messed up order. I would have immediately offered to remake the wrap (if they had the ability to come back) OR refund the whole thing. Every time I talk to these employees, I’m made to feel like I’m a hassle asking for too much. Very disappointed for this...

Stopped in for the first time after passing it many times and wanting to try. I was greeted with friendliness and patience. I got a sandwich, pasta and potato salad, a soda, and some baked goodies. Everything was absolutely divine. The chocolate chip cookie tasted a lot like my grandma's which made me really happy and emotional. The sandwich was perfect, with plenty of meat and a good balance of cheese and sauce to go with it. The salads are delicious as well and make a great addition to the meal.
