We stayed here for 2 nights and had a great experience. Simple research shows that this hotel offers valet for $45/day or you have to find street parking/garage.
We booked through the capital one portal with our venture x card. Upon check in, they confirmed that they do uphold the $100 experience credit and daily complimentary breakfast for 2. They explain exactly how to use the benefits through text! The $100 was applicable to valet service, spa, or food. Most communication with the hotel staff happens through text (this is great for any introverted folks!).
During check in, they escorted us to our rooms personally and explained as much as possible about the features of the hotel. The escort was definitely rushed but it’s understandable due to the high volume of people checking in.
The water pressure was great, we did not have any problems. The alarm did not sound in our room (I saw another review of a complaint on that). It was clean, but it could be cleaner. Our pillow had a small yellow stain on the side and the floor had some hair. The robes are super luxurious and soft. Downside there are no slippers.
The complimentary car service uses a bmw i7 series and we definitely took advantage of the massage feature. There can be a queue so be patient! There is only one vehicle. Wait times are relatively quick around 10-15 minutes.
In terms of the rooms, it has a very minimalist feel. The night stands are very small along with the tables. If you want a room with a work desk like my husband, you need read the room descriptions before you book! Contact the hotel if necessary. Hotel/travel websites may have different names for the rooms, but the descriptions tells you the specific layout and furniture.
The staff here are very nice, they gave a lot of recommendations for places to try. We never had any negative experience with any of the workers. No one was rude or condescending. The staff all work very hard to provide the best experience.
Amenities outside the room included (toothbrush and toothpaste, shower cap, sewing kit, q tip, nail filer, a small scrunchie, and cotton pads).
Late entry: Wifi was consistent and fast.
Overall, for the price we paid during off peak season I believe it is definitely worth it. If I booked two weeks in advance it would have been an even...
Read moreWhen we stayed here, they’d only been open a few months and there were a few kinks still being worked out. That said, the staff and management are absolutely focused on customer service and responded more than graciously to any and all requests. From the valets who welcomed us to the front desk to the bartender and servers in the Five of Clubs and Twinflower Café, every single person we encountered was solicitous and gracious.
The room was absolutely stunning, with a beautiful view of the area and a lovely bathroom. So many nice touches, including a coffee press with fresh coffee, a water bottle for filtered water (available on each floor), an evening turndown service with chamomile tea provided, real keys for the room (we loved that old-school touch), lights on dimmers (and separate lights in the different areas of the bathroom), a refrigerator and a safe, plenty of wall hooks, and a sweet in-room seating area with the most comfortable daybed-style couch.
The location may not suite everyone, but we really enjoyed walking in the neighborhood (the nearby Western Promenade was a lovely place to stroll), and similarly liked the walk to the nearby Portland Museum of Art as well as the downtown harbor area (that’s probably about a mile away, but still a manageable walk). Though we never availed ourselves of it, the hotel does offer complimentary car service on a first-come basis, which we appreciated knowing we could use if we got too tired to walk back. We did use the valet service (which I recommend as parking looked a bit spotty in the area), and the service was fast, efficient, and friendly.
The lobby area, which doubles as seating for the bar and cafe, was both esthetically pleasing (like the whole hotel, which is just lovely at every turn) and a comfortable spot to sit. And I should add that we had cocktails in the Five of Clubs on two of our three evenings while staying there, and the drinks were absolute perfection.
All in all, a lovely stay that I would...
Read moreI do not recommend this hotel for anyone. We booked through the Hilton app as a diamond member…I have never in my life had a hotel staff be so unaware of the hotel portfolio they belong to. For example at check in we showed them the app where it clearly states self parking is available and free as well as stating valet parking is available and free…they ignored it and said they had no idea why it showed that…they were also unaware of breakfast and were confused when we asked what the diamond member complimentary breakfast was, when it was served, etc…one staff member actually said they were new to the mariott portfolio…hmm
Outside of that fiasco this hotel claims to be “luxury” yet our shower head only had water coming out of one half…the water pressure was non existent and the water was extremely cold. When we brought this to their attention the solution was for us to shower in another room…not move rooms and not an actual apology. They also have no luggage carts and no staff to help with your bags. They also do not offer a digital key and you are forced to carry around a very large clunky key.
They only have one valet staff member who also doubles as the driver for the complimentary car service. This forced us to miss our dinner reservation as the valet driver left and after 30 minutes of waiting we received a text saying that there was no one available and to try again….my husband had to go request a manager get our car, taking over 45 minutes total. The next morning around 7:30 am there was also no valet attendant available to retrieve our car.
The sheets were like sandpaper and actually gave me a rash, the windows did not seem to be properly installed and were very loud, the air conditioning is in the hallway of the room so the bathroom was cold but the bedroom was hot, there was also spackling all over the walls I can’t for the life of me understand how this hotel passed inspection. Do not stay here, you are literally better off...
