Update 10/31/2020 We did another room, lost city of jaguar king as reccomended as a free room by the owner for a bad experience. This room unfortunately was also just as lackluster. There was no story or intro video, the puzzles had no plot line, it was not immersive at all. The room did not take into account people who have a hard time with colors. Again as in our first time here the game master does not actually listen to you and gives hints at random. After specifically asking for a hint for puzzle B we get given a hint for puzzle A. I have never experienced an escape room like this were they give you whatever hunt they feel like and not the one you ask for. As a team of 2 who split up puzzles based on our strengths it's very frustrating that the game master doesn't listen.
Orginal Review we did the butcher room and we're not satisfied at all. It was done very poorly and the game elements especially black light text were not well maintained and made completing the room nearly impossible. There was also no story or seemingly any sort of ways to connect the puzzles together or know what you should work on next.
As someone who has done over 30 escape rooms across the country including some of the highest rated ones I am pretty disappointed in this room and most likely won't be back to try the...
Read moreWe held our annual national sales meeting in Portland, ME last week. After a long day of sitting in meetings, we needed something fun to do that would enhance our team building efforts. We decided to go to The Escape Room right in downtown Portland. Best decision we made.
Many of us had never done an escape room so didn’t know what to expect. The host was great at explaining how it worked and guided us when we needed help. We got completely immersed in problem solving and forgot what we had been doing all day. I highly recommend The Escape Room as a team building activity as everyone must work together to solve the clues. It was way harder than many of us thought! Some of our groups solved the puzzles and the rest got close.
There was excellent immersion, puzzles and contraptions galore. Several of our folks asked to participate again that night they had such a good time.
If you're around Portland, ME area, give this a go! You...
Read moreGoing in, never having done an escape room, I/we had no expectations. My two kids and I(16 & 8) chose the copperhead saloon experience(intermediate). It was actually so much fun and we 3 worked together to attempt completing it. We did not complete it, however. We will definitely go back! We were told to try the Jaguar King the next time, if I would be bringing smaller children again: it is interactive and for beginners. Now that I/we know what to expect, I think we’ll be able to complete the next ones. Great experience! Definitely recommend! Will be back. Also, Dave was super accommodating when one of the people in my party couldn’t make it last minute. I emailed him as the FAQ said to do. He issued us a gift certificate for next time. Thank...
