Before I rant, I just want to point out that the food is amazing. But it's not worth the work involved on the diners part just to eat there.

The service was absolutely terrible and we were ignored the whole time. So we had to get up to find someone or stand and flag people down waving our arms.

Our experience overall was not good and I doubt there will be returns from any of us since there are so many other places here in Portland.

It was busy, so we had a 1 hour wait. Thats reasonable for Sunday brunch as it's a popular time.

We were seated near the door, which is annoying but understandable. It was a very hot day so it was very warm since everyone was holding the door open. So okay, we're gonna be a bit sweaty, we have ice water and cold drinks we'll make it work.

The issues started stacking quickly. They tried serving us a very under brewed iced tea, it was the color of green tea, but they pointed out it came out poorly and managed to get a proper one eventually. And then we made our orders.

About 45 minutes later we we got our food. Our drinks were empty, nothing, not even water was refilled for the remainder of our time. One glass of water each the whole meal.

The waitress was a complete ghost. I flagged down numerous other people just to get any service. Of which it was not very accommodating. And making excuses for ignoring the table.

After all the frustration, never being checked on, sweating in our seats and really needing something to drink we tried to check out.

This was a 40 minute process, involving the the man who checked people in who didn't listen to us state we needed two separate checks and two boxes, who broke a 50 and came back with a full check. So we debated just splitting it later just so we could get out of there. waiting again for the waitress with the two separate checks and just trying to get the hell out of that place.

Again the food was great. Service was the worst. We know serving jobs, we know what it takes to serve tables. This isn't foreign or needed to be explained. We know what it takes to be a server. It was just very poor work on their part.

Save yourself the stress of you want to dine somewhere. Just go...

Such a disappointment. Our group of three waited just over 30 mins for a table which we had no problem with as it’s a popular spot and we were told that was going to be the wait time. Once seated ww ordered some coffee immediately and once served we put in an order for some pancakes, French toast, eggs and Irish Benedict. Probably 25 minutes had passed since we placed our order and our server had only been back once to fill up some coffee so we went up and asked for an update. About ten minutes later she came back and apologized that the kitchen was ‘backed up’ and that our order was next on the list and would be out in 5 minutes. This seemed strange given the table behind us who were seated 5-10 minutes before us had already been served and finished eating. About another ten minutes passed and still no sign of the food or our server. This is now 10.30am and we our text messages show that we had been on the waitlist at 8.55am. At this point with an 11.30am tour to get to we had found another server and asked to pay for our coffees so we could leave. She tried to tell us our food was now made and on the way but given the previous updates we could not trust this. What made this situation worse was that she told us the order had only been put in at 10.10. I told her that was a lie we had ordered at least at 9.45am. 10.10 was in fact right around the time where after 25 minutes I had asked where our food was. It seems clear that the server had forgotten to put the order in and had tried to cover it up. Had she owned up and admitted to forgetting the order we would have been understanding. But by covering up and trying to portray us as being in the wrong and accusing us of only having been waiting since 10.10 they showed a complete lack of respect. I’m sure the food is good but we never got a chance to experience it and the service experience was just awful on...

We were looking forward to our brunch with the family & unfortunately didn’t get the experience that we expected from all the great reviews! Maybe it was just an off day.

The host immediately told us they had space for us, and then when she was about to grab menus for us she said she actually had to check if the kitchen was caught up. She came back and told us unfortunately the kitchen was backed up. We totally understood and went outside to wait.

She came out to tell us there was space to wait inside so we moved in - and then watched her seat 3 parties… very confusing as we were told they weren’t seating due to the kitchen being backed up. She then kept forgetting who we were and when we, for the 4th time reminded her we were the 6 top - she snapped at us and said “I quoted you 30 minutes and it’s been 20” which was confusing as we said absolutely nothing about the wait time.

We finally got sat and it was down hill down there. Food took forever, and all came out at different times. Because they brought it out at different times, everyone who ordered the same meal but different style of eggs got mixed up. Some of us were half way through our meal before the other people got their food.

Additionally, the server rang in things we never ordered and missed something we did order.

All of these things individually are not the end of the world - but it was very frustrating by the end.

The food was good, which was the only...

Brunch on a Saturday a twelve o'clock. What was I thinking? This cozy restaurant has room for 3 small tables on the first floor. The second floor has a couple of booths, and then some open tables, and then some smaller bistro tables by the window. There's a fully stocked bar in the corner with five seats. I got put on the wait list. Receive the confirmation text and thirty minutes later was notified that I had a spot. Couples, according to the host, were set up to expect about a forty five minute wait. I think it's worth it. The staff knows a lot of hustle and they demonstrate superior teamwork. Sophia was running the bar and waiting tables. The waitstaff day starts at 6am. Because the main dining is on the 2nd floor it isn't hard to understand just how many steps these girls are getting in every day. Despite the place being packed as soon as I sat down, I was greeted and my drink order was taken. I read reviews they talked about the crispy smokey bacon and I can confirm it. They offer various versions of the Eggs Benedict meal. It's my first full day in Portland, so I was compelled to go with Lobster Benedict. 🦞 gets 5 🌟 from me. The side order of potatoes was absolutely perfect. This is a cozy and friendly place filled with great wait staff who know how to take care of you. Portland's a big city and there are a lot of choices. But I know that I'll be back to this one.

I had high hopes for this place but was disappointed in the slow service and lack of care and control of the establishment. It was small quarters in this location. And it was full of loud out of control screaming children. The people that came here had no regard for the other patrons that wanted to enjoy their meals. The staff was about 6 young girls who were not really doing much of anything. We waited over 30 mins to get our food and we saw other people that came in after us get their food first and leave before us. The food came out lukewarm like it was sitting there waiting for one of the girls to decide to pick it up and bring it to us only after I had to ask if we should leave. Regarding the food, the strawberries and cream French toast was great but came out lukewarm. The crab cake was not good too much dill was used I couldn’t eat it. And the lobster scramble ($30)was ok but over priced and not enough lobster compared to other places that are priced much better. This place is definitely charging way too much for their food. I have no problem paying for great food but this was not worth it unfortunately. The terrible customer service and loud atmosphere really ruined the meal for us.

Stopped in to Bayside American Cafe on my last day in Portland. What an excellent way to end the trip. I was initially thrown off by the surrounding neighborhood being a bit sketchy, but I found the atmosphere warm and inviting. I was immediately welcomed when I arrived by staff and seated upstairs. I ordered a Mimosa to start and a coffee. The mimosa was great and the coffee was strong. What I enjoyed most about my visit was that our waiter actually tasted the food. I find it excellent when I visit an establishment where the staff can make recommendations based on having previously tasted the menu. Our waiter recommended the Lobster scramble and cinnamon roll pancake. I can understand why the pancake is the most popular, I enjoyed it but found it a bit thicker than I typically like my pancakes. It was very delicious and not overly sweet. The Lobster scramble on the other hand was AMAZING! The goat cheese mixed with the fresh lobster went so very well together and that homemade wheat bread has a nice subtle sweetness. I can’t wait to come back to Portland and stop by for another meal.
