Food Cart Pod + Rooftop Bar 🍹

As someone not from Portland, I think this concept is so cool. It's awesome to have so many permanent gathering spots for food "carts" (or I guess food trucks as they're known where I'm from and.. I think most places 😅). It's a rather clean and fancy looking place to eat at an okay price without the slightly more lengthy stay and upscaleness needed when going to a sit-down restaurant. My food wasn't bad - maybe I would've preferred something different but I was trying something new and it seemed like it was made as it was supposed to be. In general there are so many options here everyone is bound to find something they love.

Midtown Beer Garden has a fun, casual atmosphere with lots of seating and a solid lineup of food carts. The beer selection is good, and the space is lively with music and lights — a nice spot to chill downtown. That said, it can get really crowded during peak hours, and some carts have long wait times or even randomly close early. Also, not all food is consistent — my tacos were great, but a friend’s noodles were overcooked and bland. Worth checking out, but go with patience and maybe a backup plan if your favorite cart isn’t open.

I'm changing my review because I saw it was under the beer garden as a whole and not on the specific locations. The beer garden itself is beautiful and has lots of different carts with a variety of options that look amazing. The music was pleasant, and the area was very clean and protected. I just had bad luck my first time there. The menu for "Monster Mac" is not accurate. I ordered the "Loaded Mac" because I like bacon in my mac. When it arrived it did not look as advertised. Also, I was not informed that they would be replacing regular bacon with turkey bacon. Had I known, I would have gone somewhere else. When questioned why I got something different than what I ordered, I told that it is because the owner does not eat pork for religious reasons. Totally fine, my approval is not needed for someone else's choice for their business. However, if u don't serve pork, don't advertise an item as having bacon. In my opinion, that's false advertisement. I didn't ask for a refund because I feel like that was the cost of that lesson. Next time, I will ask if the menu is accurate before ordering. The "Ocean Aloha" cart also needs help. I ordered the "Chicken Katsu" with 2 fried eggs over it because he was out of the "Loco Moco". I like fried eggs on entrees. The food was really bad. He burnt the eggs and put this really sweet sauce on the "Chicken Katsu" that drowned the rice. The chicken seemed like it would have tasted better without the sauce. I threw it away and chalked it up to another lesson learned. The majority of Google reviews for "Ocean Aloha" are not positive. The rest of my group ordered from "Iron Strike Smash Burgers", and they all loved it. They even ordered more to take some home. I will definitely be trying those...

My friend & I have been here on several occasions. The food is very good, especially the Mexican. There's always been security when entering the gardens, until the last couple of times. There wasn't any one standing at the entrance, or sitting in the little shelter. Also this last time, which was Sunday the 30th of June, there were 3 different homeless guys eating out of the garbage cans. There was no one to stop them. I have seen security do this before. When someone is eating out of the garbage, it has a tendency to take my appetite. The restrooms were very dirty. The first one I started to go in, the floor was totally wet. The next one had no toilet tissue or seat covers. The 3rd one was okay. A little tissue, no seat covers. There use to be a person cleaning the restrooms & someone also working on cleaning the food area. I was very disappointed to see this like of service. I felt like the beer garden is going downhill. I hope it changes to the way it was, because we enjoy going there. I feel like the food & drink prices are comparable to other places...
