While looking for fun spots to enjoy a bite and food for our group of 7 to have an impromptu reunion with old friends, we came across this delightful gem. MOMOyama! They were nice enough to take a reservation and had a large booth, perfectly suited to our group. The booth seating is great and provides a nice barrier for sound and privacy for a group to enjoy conversations and laughs without distractions or disturbing neighbors.
They have a great selection of appetizers and we opted for a whole bottle of their cold Nigori Sake which was delicious!
We had an amazing range of sushi selections and their lobster roll Was super yummy! We tried the Ikura/uni noodles which was tasty and we also had the AGE Tofu and their crispy chicken appetizer and a range of sushi’s and sashimi.
Definitely recommend coming here for sushi and the rolls are diverse and delicious and lots of pieces, great for sharing.
They have some super good signature cocktails and a fun selection of themed and inspired drinks with an Asian flare. One cocktail had a fried shishito pepper on top which was a fun garnish.
When you are in the market for sushi, want to find easy parking, and like a restaurant close to a small green square/park. I definitely recommend a stop in at MomoYama.
Cheers to MOMOyama for the great dining experience!

Read moreMomoyama is a hidden gem in the Pearl District, the best sushi place in Portland. My husband and I went here for our Sunday date night to have dinner 8/13. This sushi restaurant has posh atmosphere, have vegetarian and gluten-free options, spacious interior and smells clean, I emphasize the smells clean part cause I've been to multiple sushi restaurants and some of them have a gross fishy smell and sticky table that puts me off and I always walked out without even trying the food, but Momoyama has nothing like that, you will definitely notice the cleanliness of this restaurant. Joy is a sweetheart and her food recommendation was great. Every food we ordered was so scrumptious that we indulged ourselves in ordering more than we can eat so we have leftovers to bring home. Joy carefully wrapped our food in a to-go bag which I had it for my lunch today and it was still so good. Momoyama is now our favorite sushi restaurant and we are glad that it's just a few blocks away from our place, so every time we crave for japanese food it's just a few minutes walk. I told Joy that she will be seeing us often, my husband and I will be regulars here from now on. I highly recommend this place, it has everything you expected in a great sushi place, posh atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. Next time we'll go here for lunch to try their...
Read moreWhat an unfortunate experience we had at Momoyama on a Saturday night. We made a reservation for 4 at 6:30 and were seated promptly, but unfortunately that was where the quality service stopped. Every interaction we had after that was horrible.
First, after being sat, 30 minutes went by where no one came to greet us or take our order, despite all of the tables around us being taken care of. After 30 min, we got up to ask the host to send someone over and she said she would send someone over right away. Another 5 minutes go by where no one comes, and we had to flag a waiter down.
We placed our entire order, food and drinks, all at once. Our order consisted of gyoza, a few crispy rice orders, nigiri, and a single roll. It took 45 minutes before the first item came out. After another 20 minutes (now 8:05pm for a 6:30pm reservation), we had the roll and one of three crispy rice out. We asked when we could expect the rest of the order to come out and the manager informed us we were the longest ticket in the house and they were working on it. Shocking.
It's disappointing the service was so awful, because the food was very good. With all the sushi options in town, we likely won't...
