As a visitor from Canada exploring Portland for the first time, I was eager to try out the city’s famous coffee scene. I stumbled upon this cozy coffee shop, and it completely lived up to the hype.
From the moment I walked in, I felt like I’d found a little slice of home. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for taking a break from sightseeing. The baristas were incredibly friendly and more than happy to help me choose something from their menu. I went with a classic espresso, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had—rich, smooth, and full of flavor.
The shop itself is beautifully decorated, with comfortable seating that made it easy to relax and unwind. I also tried one of their pastries, which was just as delicious as the coffee. It was the perfect spot to recharge before heading back out to explore more of the city.
If you’re visiting Portland, especially from somewhere like Canada where we take our coffee seriously, this place is a must-visit. It’s clear that they care about both quality and making their customers feel welcome. I’ll definitely be stopping by again the next time...

I’m thrilled to support both establishments, but I can’t help but wonder… will latte art battles break out? Will scones be weaponized? Only time (and possibly Instagram Stories) will tell. Either way, we’re all winners—just very, very caffeinated ones.
Mar 17, 2025 This is objectively the best coffee shop in Portland. Probably Oregon. Maybe the world. The coffee? Impeccable. The atmosphere? Suspiciously perfect. I’m starting to think they’re hiding something, like a secret coffee lab or a portal to a dimension where everything tastes better—I'll continue to go multiple times a week for "reconnaissance" and report back any findings.
Anyway, if you’re drinking coffee anywhere else, you’re making a...
Read moreWow I love no pref coffee pdx. Real bang-up job if I do say so myself. I just learned “bang-up job” is a good thing! The no pref people do NOT “bang-up” your coffee (ie, bang your order against walls, tables, heads, or tails), but they DO DO a “BANG-UP JOB” (ie, honorably make great coffee, and allow you to make jokes. They may or may not laugh, which I respect. All these other coffee shops laugh at whatever I say, which at this point makes me feel far too powerful. No Pref humbles me right back down to earth- the only place I wanna be as long as No Pref is around.) Moral of the story is this, ok- Living on this planet is hard enough. Get out there and visit places that serve great drinkies and snackies, all while making you feel human and respected and funny. (but not too funny. The power WILL go...
