I've been here a couple times now, and I am pleased and impressed. This isn't much like the rest of the Portland breakfast and brunch scene, as they don't have gourmet mushrooms, homegrown eggs, or fancy menus, but it still has a great charm that a lot of places lack. The wait staff is super friendly, the menu is full of filling food at good prices, and there is a good selection. Not sure how they are as we didn't try it, but they do offer bottomless mimosas. They're only open for breakfast and lunch til 3pm, breakfast is served all day, which my husband adores. I got biscuits and gravy my first visit, and the smoked brisket skillet hash the second time. One great tip we learned my second time around - if you order a biscuit with your meal, you can also get a side order of gravy and have a mini biscuits and gravy treat with the rest of your meal. Great if you are a bit on the fence and don't want to commit to a full plate of heavy carbs! This place satisfies both my husband and I in terms of the experience we get. He's into filling, basic breakfast food. I can be a bit of a food snob, as I was raised by a chef. This is a place I'm happy going to for simple comfort food for a no-fuss meal out. It isn't fancy, but I love that there's no hour long wait just to be seated, they have coffee, and they have good bacon and good sausage links. They have a menu item that allows you to get French toast with savory sides, which every breakfast place desperately needs. Aaaaand they brought us real butter with our biscuits instead of some nasty piped margarine. We...
Read moreWe get there can we can't tell if the place is closed or open, due to the smashed doors and windows covered with ply wood. We go inside and it's incredibly hot and no air movement. We sit at out table to the right of the bar and a loud noise starts coming from the wall next to the booth, the table starts shaking (should have left by now) the waitress has two othe tables and takes about 10 min for her to come over and doesn't ask if we want anything to drink just asks for our order, chicken fried steak and a scramble, while waiting for our orders of food a horrible high pitch squeaking noise comes from the kitchen and hurts my ears and my wife's ears. We ask our waitress what the noise is and she was like oh it's the sink. The noise does not stop. It takes about 20 min for our food. We get it and ask again about the noise, this time she says it's the toaster and walks away. Our food is gross, my gravy on my food is powder based and not mixed well and tastes like Elmer's white glue and my wife's scramble has 1/4 lb of slightly uncooked and cooked cheese on it which is covering a brown and burnt scramble. I barely eat my food and our waitress never asks how our food is andy wife can't eat it. The waitress does not even carey wife has not touched her food. We are given the bill and the only thing our waitress does is ask if we want a to go box, we say no. Pay our bill and leave. This place is horri Le, bad service, dirty, burnt food. Waitress who give zero f's about you or the good they are serving. Avoid this place. My...
Read moreWhen we first walked in we sat ourselves at a booth and was greeted by a taller blonde girl, she took our drink order and we checked out the menu. We ordered coffee and the smoked brisket hash and were super excited, it sounded amazing. What we got was not a hash, but large homefries with slices of brisket mixed through, unmelted cheese, two eggs on top.. a soggy bottom biscuit with super cold butter and awful service. We needed more jam and waited way too long as the two waitresses were both eating off to the side, on their cell phones, and having a conversation with each other about some guy named Joe. With over 5 tables in there I do not feel it was appropriate timing. When we were finally able to get the other (not the blonde) waitresses attention and get more jam she brought it back with huge attitude and a "you good?".. we proceeded to inform her that the food wasn't what we were expecting and we were shocked they were both taking a break at the same time when you have customers needing things.. she proceeded to respond with "great, so you won't be coming back.. good". Are you kidding me? She then took our plates, even though we were not finished, brought the check and awkwardly hovered over our table waiting for us to pay. Very awful customer service and experience. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. Wish I could leave negative stars.. oh and to top it off.. I asked her if she was the owner - she responded "no, you can call after 3pm, they will be here".. they...
