I am a teacher and ordered pizza for my class's pizza party today (10:35am). The initial person I spoke to (Anthony) said the order would be delivered in 45 to 50 minutes, which would have been perfect and on time for my students' lunch time (11:30). I did clarify that the order was being delivered to a school.
After an hour and 15 minutes (11:50), there was still no sign of the delivery. I called the store back to check in on the order, and due to a busy streak, the order had not even been sent out yet. Anthony said he was waiting on the driver to get back and that my order would be sent out next, and would likely be delivered 10 to 15 minutes later. We rearranged our schedule for the kids to go out to recess before lunch instead of after with the plan of pizza waiting for them when we came back inside.
By 12:25, there was still no call from the office concerning a pizza delivery. I called the store again and Anthony said the driver had come and the door was locked to the entrance and that he had knocked before he left. He said they had tried to call me (the call log showed that the call went through at 12:15 --- which would have been 45 minutes after the original quoted time), but there was no answer (I was with students and could not answer). I asked if he rang the doorbell as instructed on the door to the school and was told he did not ring the bell and asked if the driver should turn back around.
I called the driver number back (12:30) and reached the driver (I did not catch his name) He told me the door was locked and nobody came when he knocked. I asked why he did not ring the bell as the door sign instructed. He told me he should not be expected to ring a bell and that if I order food for delivery I should have been waiting at the door. He said his manager told him to come back and said he would be there in 10 minutes.
I couldn't believe how defensive and rude the driver was and called the store once more. Anthony answered again and I told him what the driver said and asked if there was anything he could do about the issue (2 hours waiting for a pizza to be delivered less than half a mile away is insane.) He initially offered $6 off, which I felt was not enough for how I was spoken to or how long this was taking to feed my kids. He settled on half off the food and still charging the delivery fee. I was so fed up by this point I said fine and hung up.
I had someone cover my class and met the driver at the door, finally, at 12:47. The driver asked how I was doing, as if nothing was wrong. I pointed to the sign about the door bell and he again argued that he only rings doorbells if that is in the delivery directions. I pointed the the face level sign on the door and told him those were his delivery directions and that it was absolutely ridiculous that this whole ordeal took so long. He responded saying, "I am not ridiculous". I signed my receipt with zero tip and said goodbye. 2 hours and 10 minutes after placing my order and 1 hour and 30 minutes after my quoted delivery time.

Pizza ETA was 7:32pm. 7:45 no pizza. Call the HUT and ask for an update. Employee "Oh ya. The driver couldn't find your address so she came back" Whuuuuttt?!đ± She didn't try to call me? "No I guess not. Oh she's leaving again right now" đ„± I'm asking if the pizza will be cold since it's now 10 minutes beyond the ETA. (A long pause) "Noooo, it'll be piping HOTđđ!" Hangs up. Pizza arrives 2 minutes later. I open the door to a (bless her â€ïž) driver and I ask her if she tried to call me when she was unable to find our address. "Yes, yes I did. Two times." Funny, I had been staring at my phone non stop, waiting for the requested text updates. I didn't get any. No phone calls or missed calls. Hmmmm. Babe, did you hear my phone? No?! Hmmm.
I'd only intended to think that, but once I had heard my own voice. Oops! You did it again, Rhonda đ Anyway, the driver is looking slightly confused so I say "I hope the pizza is still hot since it been in a hot steamy boxđ over 20 minutes now, and I'm sure it wasn't remade even though the pizzas were returned to the HUT ." More confusion. "Yeah, it's only a couple minutes past" đ and she gliiides her hand into the pizza bag and sez "It's piping HOT!"

So she turns the bag around. She opens the flap (yeah. I know.) and presents it to me like I'm receiving a crown jewel on a wee little purple.velvet.quilted.cushiony.pillow...(come on back Rhonda) I reach in, take out the za. Now I gliiiiiide MY hand under the stack of 3 large fuuuuudging late pizzas and discover that the driver was in fact not accurate in her assessment of the warmth of those boxes. "So, it's fine yeah?", says the driver. I still don't know her nameđ„±đ„±đ„± "It'll have to be. Thanks" I answered. And I shut the damn door. Sweet Lady Godiva. I may seize.
I put out the pizzas and noticed that one of them was wrong. The one for the 13 year old kid who's having the first sleepover since the 'rona. Cool. But thankfully my kid is chill and makes it no big deal. Lesson re-learned.

Last night I had placed an order once it got to a half hour past when it shouldâve arrived and the tracker said it shouldâve been on the way I called to check on it then I was told theyâre going to remake the order have it sent out again and it would be another half hour making it an hour past it said they were waiting on it then it was assigned to a new person I checked on it again she said Iâm sorry for how long itâs taking they have the order and should be on their way if theyâre not there in a half hour call again but theyâd send cinnamon rolls with because it was so far past I said that we should get credited as well as sending it out due to the fact itâs been well over an hour since we shouldâve got it our kids fell asleep and Iâll have to try and wake them to eat this is unacceptable she agrees then cancels my order I call to check on it they said she canceled it but will reorder it and send it out two hours past when it was supposed to arrive and it came wrong I call today to talk to a manager and the person answering asked whatâs the problem I said I would like to talk to a manager she said well Iâm whoâs here I just wanted to clarify it was a manager given it sounded like she already had an issue I say Iâll just call back tomorrow because she sounded already irritated with me wanting a manager and I would like welcoming service after a disaster of a night of service I just had.
