Puddletown Bagels - Powell Café (SE 36th Ave. & Powell BLVD) — Restaurant in Portland

I placed a pick up order for a breakfast sandwich this morning. The order was placed by 10:34 and the estimated pick up time was 10:38-10:48. I arrived at 10:50. There was a long line and it was clear the employee was very behind. They were working hard but it is clear that it was too much work for one employee. It is incredibly frustrating to see places under staff and impact the quality of service in addition to overworking their employees. After waiting for 20 minutes without being able to speak to an employee, I was finally able to check on my pick up order at 11:10 and it was not ready or started. I was already late for work so I left without my breakfast. For me this is my final line. I’ve had a number of frustrating experiences with puddletown in the past but it is clear the owners are overworking their employees and providing mediocre service to customers as a result. I wasted 20 minutes and almost $10 on a breakfast sandwich that I wasn’t even able to eat. (Which it’s also absurd that it costs that much to get an egg and cheese with tip. It’s ridiculous that a bagel shop doesn’t have a standard egg and cheese on their menu. I shouldn’t have to modify their breakfast sandwich with meat and spread into a egg and cheese.) I will not...

Overall it took about a half an hour to get a single break bagel, I won't call it a breakfast bagel bc there was nothing fast about it. Once it was done the guy let it start to cool by sitting on the counter and ignoring me, going on to start cooking the next order. Bagel was decent, but I can't say the wait is worth in the cramped dining area on the one hand and the cook struggling with success on the other. It's a shame they seemed to have a lot of good options on the menu, but I think they need to hammer out their logistics or possibly even change locations and...

Ordered an everything bagel with tomato herb cream cheese. My thoughts were good and bad.

Bagel was pretty good, above average. Nice simple crunch on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside.

But the cream cheese… wow, that was the most saltiest cream cheese I have ever had which made it a bit hard to eat. Hopefully not all the spreads are like that.
