Place looked like it was made more from scratch, but the grilled cheese is nothing special; it used regular bread you get from the store, cheese was just cheddar, no mixes. The soup, while made for sure from scratch, tasted more like a crushed can of tomato’s like Mariana sauce, more than anything, and was sour; it could use heavy cream. I got no drinks. For two regular grilled cheeses and two 12-ounce bowls of tomato soup. It was 43 dollars. Insane rip off.
In response to the owner, I think 32 is an interesting number since when I check your own menu online, it lists one grilled cheese as $11 each, and one 12-ounce soup as $9. I stated that we ordered 2 of each. 11x2=22 + 9x2 = 18, 22 + 18 = is 40.Not sure how you crunched the numbers, and I can't imagine they would be lower than listed online, since usually most places don't update, and it's higher. I will put the photos down below.
Where I will correct myself and apologize is that I looked at the photo and we got 16 oz., which is 10 dollars. You don't deserve to have prices at your business misrepresented. However, the total cost is 43, with the 1$ included for a tip for two grilled cheeses and two 16 oz soups, with a mac salad, but a bag of small lace chips. Is that still reasonable? You can have all you can eat Korean BBQ for that price for two people. The bread, to me at least, still tasted pretty identical to the Fred Myers brand, though I believe you. You also mention how you have 11 other cheeses, yet you conveniently left out how those sandwiches with other cheeses do not have simply those cheeses, but other ingredients like meat, veggies, and so forth that make it cost more. I was pointing out that your grilled cheese itself is quite simple, not the other sandwiches you call a grilled cheese.
I also wrote this review not on the day I bought the item; I wouldn't purposely lie online and not reach out. While I understand your frustration of wanting feedback in the moment in order to fix the issue, going to be completely honest here, when we came up to the window, you were quite aloof and ignored us for a while, instead of at least saying just a moment. When we ordered, you had to have us repeat, and seemed in a daze, which I can get happen; it gave us the impression that if we were to complain, you wouldn't really care.
My review was simply that, a review, where I feel you overcharge and make well over a profit for subpar food. I do not believe you would have added other cheeses or heavy cream at the moment, due to cost. So I was entitled to my opinion. What I don't appreciate is the misrepresentation of cost or assuming my review was on the same day to make it look like I have it out for small business.

Read moreI am so thrilled and grateful to have Spoons within walking distance in my neighborhood! As someone who's been learning a lot about gluten-free (non-celiac) eating on top of being vegan for 11+ years, I love that the owner, Ruth, has SO many food options for me to choose from. And they are ALL delicious!
The Vegan V'aprese sandwich is an easy choice for me (can we just talk about how exciting it is to have a tasty and delicious gf/v sandwich option?! But also there are MULTIPLE gf/v sandwich options?!) as well as the Garden Salad with Tofu, and any of the crepes.
The cherry on top of all the delicious gf/v food options is the owner, Ruth—who is often at the cart when I stop by—is so lovely, happy, and funny every time I stop by. It's always a joy to see her! And if she isn't there, whoever is, is always just as lovely, too. : )
The food cart pod is clean and I love that there's so many covered picnic table seating options to choose from—especially since I...
