Writing this review honestly sucks. I’ve been coming here and so has my mom for probably around 10 years or so. The food used to be soooo good… fresh, hot. Wonton soup was always good too. Sushi was my absolute favorite. Never had a bad experience. Unfortunately, the last few times we’ve been there has been different. Starting a couple months back, I went in and noticed there were new employees but didn’t think much of it until I started eating my food. The quality dropped way down. The salmon skin roll (one of my all time favorites) had some waxy thing within the roll and literally making it inedible. I called and they offered me a free salmon skin roll for next time to make it right which is great. Next time I did take out with my boyfriend (he’s become a huge Sakura fan for the last couple years himself), the chicken and broccoli was cold, the sauce was clumpy. My boyfriend said his general tso was cold and didn’t seem fresh. We waited a while to even go back because it just wasn’t good. Next time we went back, I ordered my standard sushi order… spicy salmon and spicy tuna. Somehow they were greasy both on the bottoms of the rolls and on the tray. Didn’t feel comfortable eating them. My boyfriend said his general tso was chewy and just not good. Not sure if we’ll give it yet another try.
For sooooo many years, Sakura was my favorite Chinese and sushi place. It seems like they’ve gone downhill after multiple chances. I’ve never even redeemed my free salmon skin roll from that first time. I’m not sure if there’s a difference in ownership or what changed. At the prices they charge, it’s truthfully not even worth the cost anymore. The quality isn’t there anymore. It’s sadly not the same and I hate saying it. Sakura used to be the best around and I’d always recommend it… unfortunately not anymore. I’d love to see if it could get back to the same standard as before because it was truly amazing food back then.
Giving 2 stars because the service and atmosphere is great but food used to be at a 5 and went all the way...
Read moreOrdered off of Door Dash: Salmon Skin Salad & Dynamite Roll. Total was $22.02.
Salad was okay-ish but had TOO much oil & extra liquids at the bottom. I felt like I was drinking cooking & straight fish oil by the time I finished. Tiny little container for $6.95, mostly salmon skins & barely any greens from the “spring mix” that was promised — basically a total of about 6 or 7 leaves & around 12 or so pieces of salmon skin, extra squishy. I don’t mind the squishy parts of the skin but I didn’t order the oil soup that everything was swimming in & leaked everywhere when I got it.
Dynamite Roll: dynamite where? I was told it was going to be spicy — there was BARELY any spice or kick there. $11.25 for 8 rolls wouldn’t have bothered me as much if it were actually good. It was super squishy & soft, but not because of the sauces, because there was barely any. Hardly any overall flavour, either. The most flavourful things in the small container of sushi were the ginger & wasabi. The roll was barely put together as I just started to pick it up with my chopsticks & it fell apart immediately (and yes, I know how to properly use chopsticks).
How this place got 4.8 stars on DoorDash & was recommended is beyond me. How it has 4.3 on here is more understandable but how is it above 4 stars? Deserves 3 at best. This is my first impression & I’m very...
Read moreSurprisingly great for a hole in the wall next to a Domino's in Pottstown... I order from here at least once a week and keep coming back. Service is very friendly and just quick enough. Some of the best lo mein I've ever had. Miso soup actually worth recommending. Sushi is the best I've had within a half hour radius. Equal to Kumo in Collegeville but maybe not as consistent. A step below "Other Fish" in Bethlehem or a few spots down the Main Line or the high end joints in Philly. But the best in this area. One bonus is the sashimi - I always get the salmon sashimi and the slices are literally about 4" long and a half inch thick- it's 2 decent bites each, not the little slices you see elsewhere, and just as creamy and delicious as you want - it's so good! Other favorites: out of control roll, amazing roll, eel (both avocado or cucumber), spicy yellowtail, east roll (I ask for no mayo and add jalapeno, very yummy), shrimp tempura, spider, etc. I've only had one time take-out where a roll tasted bad, it was a spicy salmon roll and I couldn't finish it. I mentioned it the next time and they gave me another one for free and it was great again. The spicy rolls there are good but inconsistent in how the spicy fish is prepared. But still good other than that one...
