Sangster's Cafe — Restaurant in Powder Springs

The only reason I am giving this two stars rather than one is for the fact the first time I went on Wednesday, prices are fair and I had a pleasant experience which led me to come back on Thursday. Thursday's experience with the female owner was less than desirable. I ordered a crafter drink that was $7.95 after taxes (while slightly higher than competitors (by at least $1) it’s a fair-ish price for the drink I ordered). When I told her what I wanted and asked for three pumps simple syrup, she promptly told me that the simple syrup is at the end of the bar and I could do it myself. Her words. I believe my expression (without words) said a lot and she said “well if you want us to, we can do it.” I told her “yes, I want YOU to.” Few things here: i) a crafted drink is a crafted drink, therefore it should be made as such. This was not coffee or tea which is adding for example, sugar or cream yourself which is standard, ii) when I went in on Wednesday and ordered the same drink, the cashier typed it in, I paid, kept it moving, great experience. She didn’t tell me that I can do it myself, iii) for $7.95 I definitely don’t want to do it myself because for that price, that’s their job . The local coffee shop 7 minutes away in Austell is just as good and has excellent service and iv) lastly, those simple syrup bottles are turned towards the BARISTAS not the patron and are on elevated stands for the BARISTAS and they can see what the flavors are and are designed for THEM to pump it so a patron cannot even see what the label is, nor reach it if one is short (which I’m not) and would have to remove it to pump it.

To the female owner (who I heard say she was to another patron) do better. You are a new coffee shop in an area that it is nice to have one. While your drinks are good and the atmosphere and baristas are pleasant, please don’t tell your patrons that are ordering anything outside of coffee or tea and are paying for a crafted drink to “to do it themselves.” Stick with good customer service such as what your employees exhibited and you...

I was absolutely delighted by my first visit to Sangster’s Cafe! Though I’ve been through Powder Springs many times I hadn’t noticed it until recently when we moved here. But it’s a gem in the downtown area right next to the amphitheater. Right when I walked in I was greeted by a warm, welcoming coffeehouse vibe. The employees were friendly and helpful as I decided what I wanted to get. I decided on the iced Fredo Espresso for myself and got a hot latte for my wife. I was impressed as I saw them making my iced drink that they used the large whiskey-style ice cubes which not only look cool but also keep the drink from getting watered down. I love that unique attention to detail. The drink itself was delicious. I could have drank two! But I did have to sneak a drink of my wife’s as well, which also was really good. Definitely would recommend this place if you’re looking for a high-quality fresh drink or a cool place to hangout inside or outside. They freshly roast and grind their own beans that they source from their family farm in the Jamaican Blue Mountains. Trust me not all coffee is created equal. This is the good stuff! So smooth! I’ve been following this page for a while and this was my first time going. I spent $20 and was very dissatisfied with how my drinks turned out. Your barista didn’t know what she was doing, and it was her first day back from her break. I would suggest retraining before putting them back on the floor. When I see a certain drink being displayed on your socials, I do expect them to look like that. She didn’t know how to do the caramel drizzle with a cold drink. When it was redone Carmel was still not present. As we know, Caramel does not break down in cold drinks, so I’m not sure how that was missed. There were no straws for the large option. And my whipped cream was forgotten. I asked to add it in the smaller cups. Also, the huge block ice cubes take up a lot of room, which means I get less product for the price.
