I barely know where to start... We had two large orders for work. I ordered seperately because I didn't have cash and set the time for pick up. I recieved a call 40 minutes before my order was scheduled for pickup letting me know it was ready. At this point I knew everything was going to be dead cold. One guy from work went and picked up both orders, I made the assumption that since my order was seperate from everyone else's that mine would be in a completely different bag all on their own. My co-worker returned to work with bags and bags of mixed up kolaches, and some form of initials written on the bag to the two, three, or four different kinds it contained. Let me remind you that they are all just balls of bread with filling, writing on the bag of the three different ones in the bag doesn't help at all, we had to cut everyone open to inspect what was what. As we were figuring out who's was who's I asked where my bags where since mine was seperate, my coworker told me they just put everything together and mine was not seperate. Upon further investigation I realize that out of the six I ordered I only recieved one. At this point I recieved a call from Kolache Factory telling me they were going to refund me because they found a bag still in the microwave. After the phone call I realized they never said what they were refunding me so I called back to make sure everything I did not receive was refunded. When I started listing the items I didn't receive the lady told me she would only refund me for what was in the microwave. I told her I didn't care what was in the microwave, they obviously messed up two orders so who was to say they had anything correct. I wanted a refund for what I didn't receive she again told me "No. " At this point I am angry and I got loud and told her they needed to refund what I don't have, she then said "someone else needs to talk to this guy before I lose it." I waited for someone else to pick up the phone and I can hear the other lady in the background complaining about how all she was asking for was what I was missing, she never asked me that once, she told me what she was going to refund. I really hate liars, with a passion. The second lady got on the phone I explained to her what was going on told her what I didn't receive, she then comes back on the phone and tells me she is going to refund my entire order, I tell her "no, I will pay for what I received!". I tell her the list again, and she tells me the refund is processing, then complete. One of the worst experiences I have ever had, food was not great, probably because they were microwaved! I understand lunch can be crazy which is why I just asked for a refund, did not expect to have an employee argue with me about what I was missing. Honestly if I could give this place negative stars I would. Even before I realized I was missing almost my entire order my mind was already made up about never going back simply by how they had bagged them up, I still cannot wrap my head around that one, having to cut them all open to see what was what, crazy!
I want to update! My coworker returned to get the items that were refunded. The second lady I spoke to said they had all the stuff we were missing there if we still wanted to come and get it. He did, he returned to grab the missing items, items were missing from his order as well. And suprise, suprise! Not one of my missing items was with him, not one! So I am still curious how the first lady I spoke to was telling me what I didn't receive when the proof is in the pudding! You still didn't have my order correct! I'm starting to think that the one I did get was never mine, and I took it from one of my coworkers! So nowni need to find out who and pay them back! Not only am I starving, have no food, now I need to figure out who I just inadvertently stole...
Read moreWhen driving to Greenville, SC coming from Easley I almost always go through Powdersville, SC on the way to I 85. I have driven past the Kolache Factory every time, not knowing what the place is. My sister was talking and she asked if I had ever had a Kolache. I said no, and she began to tell me what a Kolache is, and that I need to try them. I decided to do just that this morning. The Kolache Factory is open from 6am to 2pm Monday thru Saturday, 7am to 2pm on Sunday. Drive-thru hours are Monday thru Saturday 5am and at Sunday 6am. They do offer catering and online ordering. I made my order online, glad that I did, because this was much faster, and I didn't have to wait like ALL of the other customers did. There are several different varieties of kolaches, savory, sweet and breakfast kolaches, they even have savory croissants, cinnamon rolls, strudel niks, cinnamon twists and muffins. I decided on three savory kolaches, two barbecue brisket and one cream spinach, and a peach, strawberry, and cinnamon roll. The Kolache of the month is a cream cheese kolaches with an Apple slice with a little cinnamon. I noticed some time after I got home that the Kolache of the month wasn't in the box. I called back to the business and the manager answered the phone, I told him what happened. He was so nice, he told me he would put my name up and to just come through the drive thru, and tell them my name and that I would get two kolaches of the month, just for having to come back! How nice is that???!! So I did eat the barbecue brisket, it was delicious, tender beef brisket in a sweet barbecue sauce, inside a slightly sweet(just like they said) dough. Next was the strawberry kolaches...y'all it was so good, I am in love!! My sister stopped by the Kolache Factory this morning on the way home from work, and brought me a philly cheese steak kolaches and yes I ate that too, greedy I know.. Kolaches can be eaten cold, but are better reheated and they will ask if you need anything heated at the factory. I was so impressed with this place. Such a friendly and nice group of people. When you taste one you will be hooked just like I am. If you haven't tried the Kolache Factory make sure to stop by for a visit, you will be so glad that you did. It's such a...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible! Some of the best and softest baked goods we've ever had. Fantastic place to go for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Very reasonably priced as well. We noticed it while driving by and didn't know what Kolaches were. So we Googled it and found it was a Czech bakery/pastry shop. We had the Jalapeño Popper, Cream Cheese, Cream Spinach, and Ham and Cheese kolaches. All were incredible, but especially the Popper and Cream Cheese. Coffee was very decent as well. We love good food, and this is going to be a recurring favorite.
Everything is made fresh each morning, and the process for making the dough (which is incredible and so soft!) takes three days.
There are about 50 Kolache Factories across the country and only two on the east coast: one in Virginia Beach and one in Powdersville. So we are lucky!!
The only thing we noted (and in no way should this affect your decision to try them) was that they reheated the kolaches in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds before serving. I imagine this is the best way to reheat quickly, but I think as customers we are pre-conditioned to view microwaving negatively. This did not affect the quality of the food at all, but it probably will make a lot of people scratch their heads, especially after hearing how making the dough takes 3 days and is such a craft. Microwaving seems like a sin in this case. But when you taste your kolaches, you'll quickly forget about the microwave.
All that to say, 5...
