Alfonso's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Prescott Valley

I've been coming here for years, and will continue to come here for years to come. If you'e never been here, when you walk in, there's a menu on a light-up board, try to narrow down what sounds good as you're smelling the food being cooked, walk up to the counter, give them your order and they start cooking it right there on the spot. You can either sit at the few booths that they have, or take it with you. You can also get chili or salsa while you wait for your food.

Overall, I have my favorites, things like the Mexican omlette for breakfast, their tacos and burritos are good for lunch, and for dinner, their enchiladas are great. There is also a menu on some webpage that lists things that their own menu doesn't, and it's worth looking for this menu, or hanging around and listening to what others order because I don't know if it's meant to be a secret, but my absolute favorite is something that's not on their regular menu, and I get it every time I go there.

During the winter months, on Sat & Sun mornings, until they run out, they sell fresh menudo. Anyway, while you're out supporting one local business, you can walk across the parking lot and stop over at the Donut Hole...

BIGGER IS NOT BETTER! ordered the grilled chicken burrito. Pleasantly surprised at how big the burrito was. Took a bite and realized it was extremely over cooked shredded chicken breast, (NOT GRILLED). so tough you can’t chew it up enough to even swallow. Then to top it off the burrito starts to leak and not just a little bit. I had it wrapped on the bottom and the paper was completely soaked and the entire burrito fell apart. 75% of the burrito turned to slop. Probably by far the worst chicken burrito I’ve ever had. I called to make a complaint and asked why they gave me shredded chicken instead of grilled and apparently they don’t even carry grilled chicken at that location, yet it’s still on the menu. They did offer to refund my money so they get one star. With there being a really good burrito shop right next door DONUT HOLE and ROLLIBERTOS right down the street. Both very good. You guys better step up your game. My mistake trying...

I use to give them a 4 star but they never answer their phone. I come her once sometimes twice a week and its never too busy. You can call back to back 5 times on a row so tonight I decided to see why they weren't answering and I see front lady on her phone with only one truck in drive thru. Overall great food though and I'll still eat here once maybe twice a week just please get better at being attentive to the phone. UPDATE: They still don't answer the phone and I'm not longer gonna eat here twice a week because of it. They don't even remember me when I walk in each time unlike next door I've been going to for only a short time but they already remember my name and always answer under 10 seconds.
