Had a great experience at Barbudos, one of our favorite, unique dining experiences in the Prescott area. This place has been here for many years now and has gained credibility with my wife and I as a place to go when we want a different style of Mexican food that is authentic in its own way.
For Foodies By Foodies (FFBF) highly recommends Barbudos.
#1 Green Green Burrito - FFBF RATING - 5/5 This burrito is a flour tortilla filled with mouth watering refried beans, juicy shredded beef, melted cheese, and covered in a spicy green tomatillo sauce. When I say spicy, I mean it! If you don’t like spicy, be warned if you try this. If you do like to eat spicy food, you will love this burrito! The flavor is a tangy, spicy, and filled with seasoning! I’ve never had a burrito that tasted like this.
#2 Chips and Salsa - FFBF RATING - 5/5 They make their own homemade chips and salsa. They have 3 different salsas that they bring out: Mild, Medium, and Hot. My wife mentioned during our meal that this is one of the only Mexican restaurant in the Prescott area that when they say the salsa is spicy, it actually is. Lol. Their salsa is spicy, garlicky, a nice blend of different peppers, and very flavorful. Definitely a foodie kid of salsa.
#3 Decor - FFBF RATING - 5/5 They have a great Baja California atmosphere when you walk in the entrance to their restaurant with surf boards and pictures of the ocean and surfers on the walls. Very good decorations that have their own style and are not tacky or too much though.
#4 Cleanliness - FFBF RATING - 5/5 The restaurant was very clean, both inside and outside the restaurant.
#5 Customer Service - FFBF RATING - 5/5 our waiter was very attentive from the moment we walked in and were seated until the moment we walked out. We had a group of 4 adults and 6 kids with us, yet he was not phased by it. He took care of us very well! For instance, never allowing us to run out of water (which we needed from the spicy burritos), giving each of the kids a quarter to get a piece of gum from the giant gum all machine, bringing fresh chips and salsa the entire time we were there, and getting our orders right.
It is definitely a Baja Californian style Mexican food restaurant, so don’t go there thinking you will get something like Plaza Bonita or some other place. It is very unique and For Foodies By Foodies absolutely...
Read moreMy gal pals and I went in today for lunch around 11ish wasn't to busy at that time. The gal greeted us and was very attentive she was kind and then it started to get busy and that was to be expected it was lunch time. We ordered our food and waited a little bit and that was totally fine. We had over heard her telling other guest she was alone (the server) so we expected a delay not a big deal. When we finally got our food.... it was cold. Good but cold. We both ordered the chili rianos with a taco and rice and beans. We ate the Chili rianos cold but it was good. My friend said quietly to the server yes it was good but our food was cold. She was letting her know as a FYI the server completely lost her cool rasing her voice saying to my friend that's she's the only one working and if she had a problem with the service she was more than welcome to get up and help along with other personal attacks. Very unprofessional.
We understand she was alone. We understand she was doing the best she could. The food was cold. We received our food she never came back to asked how it was because she was alone and taking care of way too many people by her self. The issue and her b reaction could have been handled better. Shame on her and shame on thinking one person could handle the bar and orders all by her self. I will probably...
Read moreWe have been going there four owners back. Originally it was a hole in the wall, serving great breakfast burritos. Then it changed hands and expanded into a cantina with a bar and lots of TVs. It turned into a South-of-the-Border sports bar. Fun and different. The food was still good and it had some interesting menu variations, more southern Cali/Baja type. The prices were reasonable, the beer was flowing and the quality of the ingredients above par. Then there seemed to be a change of ownership and all went to hell. The new ownership expanded, this place suffered and was so bad that we stopped going. Then by chance we met the new owner and decided to give it a try.The place cleaned up, the food was back from the abysses and it was worth giving it another chance. After three tries, there is still some work to be done. The food is tepid, and missing some of the great flavors it used to have. The beer is great. We will still give it another try, hoping that the new owners will bring some attention to the food. I think they can do it, but it takes a lot of hands-on attention. The staff has a great attitude and provides good service.
Break in summer of Covid 2021, much improved, friendly service, back on our rotation. Only minor complaint is please don't bury your...
