A hidden gem in Prescott. Like an East Coast seafood house. It's that good. Yesenia was the first waitress to take a liking to us and remember all the little details of our food and drink orders every time we come in. Deborah caught on quickly and also takes great care of us every time we get her. The two ladies cooking in the kitchen seem to have some Southern seafood magic in their trick bag. The mixed seafood platter I get is so good it seems to have drugs in it (haha!). It's the grilled lobster, salmon and shrimp platter, and I get everything blackened. They split the lobster tail in two lengthwise and grill it facedown instead of broiling it, and it is the best lobster I've ever had. Both the top and bottom (skin) of the salmon come out crispy especially if I ask for that and sometimes even if I don't. Crispy salmon skin is called salmon jerky and some parts, but soft salmon skin is gross to eat and nobody likes it. The reason it took us a few years to discover this Red Lobster location is that our past experiences with Red Lobster over the years have been blassé at best, with the exception of Maryland which was a true East Coast seafood experience. The reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because there seem to be some unfair labor practices going on here, which could be discriminatory and therefore illegal. The manager assigns waitresses their hours based on Google reviews, which for several reasons are entirely subjective. For example, some people are fast talkers and con artists and could sweet talk or bribe customers into giving good reviews. Other waitresses might be outstanding but not underhanded like this, and they would be unfairly missing out because they are not dishonest hustlers. I always hate to see management taking advantage of good employees unfairly. There are a few other things that show the type of management they have here, such as petty rules limiting what waitresses can do to please customers, little things that customers would prefer to make their experience better, but management forbids it. All in all an outstanding restaurant, but if I want something and it is slightly different from what is on the menu and I am willing to pay for it, then there should be no question that they should do it for me. It all comes back to the golden rule of retail and restaurant business. The customer is right. Period. My wife and I are regulars here so we will keep coming back, because we love the food and we love our favorite waitresses, in spite of these...
Read moreFirst let me tell you that I come from New England, so my standards for seafood are pretty high. I can’t really find any place in Northern AZ that does seafood right, but I thought I’d give this RL a try anyway. Wasn’t expecting a great experience from a chain restaurant and they didn’t surprise me. The restaurant was typically nautically themed and clean. The waitress was polite, attentive and the service was OK. Started with the seafood stuffed mushroom caps. Not bad with a nice gooey cheese and seafood topping. Went great with the cheddar bay biscuits that are a RL staple. Ordered the fisherman’s plate for my entree and this is where the disappointment started. To start with the good, the portion was good sized, it came out hot and the shrimp were pretty decent. The bad…the clam strips reminded me of something I used to get as a kid at Howard Johnsons, the fish, while tasty and moist was paper thin, and the scollops were inedible. I originally thought they were cheese curds and not scallops. Wow! What a shame. The meal with appetizer and a sangria (good BTW) was almost $70 with tip…an outrageous price for a MEH experience. Again, I have a high standard on proper seafood, so I shouldn’t have been surprised, but to pay a premium for this experience was beyond disappointing. Lesson learned and I won’t be going back...
Read moreWe usually love it here but it must have been Brian's first night. We had a party of 8 celebrating our parents 67th anniversary. We wanted 2 separate checks and expressed it several times as it appeared Brian was putting everything on one. He just kept writing. When our salads came out they were all mixed up as we proceeded to pass the correct salads around the table ourselves. The worst part was all the entrees were served except for one. As other entrees were getting cold everyone else dug in. I asked Brian where the other entree was and he acted like he just realized we were short one and said he would check on it. Time passed and people had completed their meals and still no missing entree. Finally Brian appeared with said entree and explained the kitchen had made the error. Needless to say the person whose entree it was did not enjoy it and felt rushed as everyone else was waiting on her. When the check came, you guessed it, only one check. We explained again that we had wanted 2 checks. Finally we had it all straight and headed out. I was very...
