I'm a sushi lover, and I have to say that this place is amazing! I stumbled on it while I was visiting Providence and taking a stroll through this beautiful neighborhood. Why this place doesn't have a 4.9 overall star rating I can't understand! I've read some of the low reviews, and people complain of the customer service and wait staff. I found the staff to be friendly, attentive, and simply wonderful! It seems that a lot of people on here can't actually read the menu, where it actually states in black and white what is included in and on the rolls. I made a change on one of mine, and the staff was happy to accommodate. Maybe it's the way some.people talk to the staff, perhaps as though they are entitled? I think diners have forgotten how to politely communicate with staff, especially when there may be differences in culture (you've always got to keep this in mind)! Now that I told you how incredible the service is, let me tell you how much I loved the atmosphere of this dark, quaint hideaway. It's beautiful.. if you're looking for a brightly lit commercial restaurant, this is not it.. for those diiners complaining of it being small and dark, then why did they sit here and eat in the first place? Surely they saw exactly what it was like when they first walked in! Strange anyone would leave them a bad review for this when they are the ones that chose to sit and dine here knowing full well what the atmosphere was like. Mind-blowing really how ridiculous some people are! The sushi is outstanding. Most places fill their rolls with rice and give you very little protein. This place is the opposite, a good portion of protein in the rolls with a small amount of rice. I appreciated this!
Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. Ignore the ridiculous, I can't say more good...
Read moreWent out for sushi with some friends here last night, although the food was delicious the service was terrible. Not only did we have 3 people coming over to our table to rush us out, no one came back to check on us until we were done eating, and THEN.. we split payments on the bill (even though we were told we could spilt the bill by server number 1 but 2 said no) and since we were being rushed out, one of our 3 servers came over and started collecting tabs before people were done signing them and filling them out.. he then proceeded to come over with server 2 of 3 and confronted us telling us we didn't leave a tip, even though he had only quickly collected 2 of 5 tabs and hadn't checked to see if we had left cash or if one of the other tabs had the tip on it, which it did. I'm pretty sure tipping is optional (I worked in the food service industry for some time) and the service really didn't deserve a tip, however we still tipped a full 20%+ and to be confronted like that, before we've even left the table and before the checks were even collected has definitely made the 5 of us not want to go back. I used to frequent this place and suggested it for a night out with my friends for dinner, and none of us will be going back after the treatment...

I got mostly Nigiri Sushi (fish on top of rice) and Miso Soup.
Strike 1: Miso Soup served to me was room temperature.. who tf likes soup room temperature especially during cold weather. Seemed like it was just sitting out and then served.
Strike 2: Fish to rice ratio was terrible, thin slices of fish and tons of rice. With the amount they charge for two pieces, this is crazy. Also the rice was really dry.. maybe mix in some rice vinegar and keep the rice from drying out.
Strike 3: I went in on a Tuesday afternoon. There were maybe 5 other people in the restaurant at the time. Waitress checked on me 0 times in the 45 mins I was there. The whole staff was in the back kitchen socializing. Asked the guy at the sushi bar if I could get my check, the guy didn't even acknowledge me and shouted in Chinese to the back kitchen for the waitress.
Spent just north of 50 bucks for what I could have gotten at the local supermarket for much...
