Title: Extremely Disappointed Birthday Experience at Waterman Grille I recently visited Waterman Grille with high hopes of celebrating my birthday in a special way. Unfortunately, my experience left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Upon arriving, my fiance inquired about the possibility of celebrating my birthday during our visit. The staff member at the entrance assured us that they would make it memorable and put our minds at ease. However, as the evening progressed, it became apparent that our celebration was being overlooked. Notably, there was another birthday celebration taking place that evening, and the contrast between their treatment and ours was stark. The staff went above and beyond for that group, even bringing out a cake to mark the occasion. In contrast, despite the promises made, nothing was done to acknowledge or celebrate my birthday. The disappointment continued with the food. The dish I ordered did not match the description provided on the menu. Instead of a complete meal, I received a plate with a small piece of cheese, olives, poorly prepared falafel, and hummus. This discrepancy further added to my frustration. What added insult to injury was the fact that, towards the end of the meal, a staff member finally inquired if we would like dessert. This came across as an afterthought, especially after they had completely disregarded the special occasion we had hoped to celebrate. I couldn't help but feel that the way our celebration was treated might have been influenced by our ethnicity. The stark contrast between how we were treated and how another birthday was celebrated raises concerns of discrimination. It's deeply disheartening to believe that a restaurant would base their treatment of customers on their race. In summary, my experience at Waterman Grille was far from the celebratory occasion I had anticipated. The staff's broken promises, lack of attention, and questionable treatment based on race left me utterly disappointed. Words can't begin to describe how absolutely satisfied I am with the level of service at the Waterman Grille. Huge props and shoutout to Alivia (Event Manager) Alivia was on top of everything and she is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She never seemed bothered by my emails, phone calls or texts. What I loved about her the most was she never made a suggestion or change without first asking if it was what we wanted. She made absolutely sure that the venue looked exactly the way we wanted; so long as we followed the simple rules that she laid out early on. She was amazing. Without knowing it, the friendliness of her personality sold me on this venue. After speaking with her once, there was no hesitation in submitting a deposit and securing the Riverview Room at Waterman Grille. Jason and Adam also deserve a shoutout. They were very attentive, friendly and courteous. They were so incredibly professional and nice also. They somehow bring the food out, remove the plates, silverware and cups, fold your napkins, bring your food and drinks; all without ever noticing them. It was definitely, "Not their first Rodeo." My husband and I chose Waterman Grille for our dinner venue after our wedding. We had a small wedding of about 20 people, but still wanted to have an elegant, formal dinner to treat our guests to after our ceremony. We were bringing an Italian and Chinese family together, so good food was very important to us. We tried a few elegant fine dining establishments around Providence that had a good fit for the size of our party, but were not particularly impressed with the food. We tried the food at Waterman Grille and knew it would be perfect. The manager showed us the different rooms that they offered, and The Loft was exactly what we wanted--it is a perfect mix of elegant and cozy. I worked with Tina to organize the event, and she is incredibly friendly and responsive. She made sure that everything was taken care of without making me feel overwhelmed, and the whole experience was much less stressful than I was anticipating! They have different wedding packages that made it easy to make the initial decisions, and afterwards Tina helped us determine the best format for the dinner and was so great with helping us implement the ideas we had to add a personal touch to the dinner. The servers were so friendly and accommodating during the dinner and everyone was very impressed with the food.
