Driving through Chicago I'm trying out different pizza and sub restaurants and I stumbled upon Al's Pizzeria in Riverside/ Broadview. It seemed like one of those mom and pop hole-in-the-wall spots that usually have the best food! I usually do not care about bad customer service, but this was something else. The cashier was too busy hanging out with his friends all behind the counter to acknowledge me properly. No greeting, no welcome--just a flat "What can I get you?" Meanwhile, his friends got better treatment like they were VIPs. I decided to try the meatball sandwich, which turned out to be a joke. It came with two mediocre-sized meatballs on a dry roll that tasted like it was leftover from the day before--tough, crumbly, and hard to bite into. Honestly, I've had better sandwiches at gas stations. The side salad was barely that. Just the woody core of iceberg lettuce with two sad cucumber slices and a cherry tomato thrown in. They did give me a full container of ranch, which was overkill for the salad--but I ended up using it on the slice of sausage pizza I got, so that worked out. Speaking of the pizza--it was okay. Not terrible, but not memorable either. Then again, can you really mess up pizza? All in all, I won't be going back unless it's to give them a second chance to make that...
Read moreI go to ask for a 2 big slice of pepperoni pizza and one cheese after I payâŠanother employeeâ oh sorry we only have two sausage leftâđlike okay thanks for telling me after I pay thinking Iâm gonna served for what I asked for plus why canât you just make MORE big one slices of pizza when you have multiple people ordering bigger slices of pizza like football and etc. but u canât make me one big slice of pizza?!?!! Thatâs like going to jimmy johns wanting a wheat sandwich instead of getting French bread. The only time Jimmy johns will say no they donât have any more is because thereâs nomore rolls in the freezer for them to cook. But as long as Jimmy Johnâs has wheat bread in the freezer and people that are clock into work and do their job and serving customers, there going to continue to make sales because everyone doesnât want French bread. Just like they should know that people donât want to order a football pizza all the time. So, my question is, what are they there for theyâre not making the right sales. And thanks for choosing a pregnant person to say that to now you have a nice...
Read moreWe had Al's cater our 25th Anniversary Party and I cannot say enough good things about them. Highly recommended! Our friends and family RAVED about how delicious the food was - the appetizers were amazing (stuff mushrooms, fried veggies, meatballs, chicken and pineapple skewers) and the dinner was delicious. We had Chicken Vesuvio at our wedding and so Al's did a special request of Vesuvio Chicken and Potatoes for our party even though it wasn't on the menu. It was the best Vesuvio I have ever had! And the big hit of the night was the custom pasta bar. The pasta was so fresh and the ingredients were delicious. Everyone just kept talking about how amazing the pasta bar was. But also, John did such a wonderful job helping me select the menu and Alex and Mike did such a geat job the night of the party cooking the pasta and making sure the food was hot and everyone was served. Again - definitely us Al's for your next event and you will...
