Uncle Remus Saucy Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Proviso Township

Service is terrible, I see why we as black people take our business else where. I waited over 20 mins for a 10 piece. The girl taking the orders had an attitude to start off with, then she disappeared, then came back, and asked the girl who just showed up where my 10 piece at. She said she waiting for it to come up now, but here's where it gets interesting. I'm at the counter the whole time, and watching her (the girl who was waiting for my chicken to come up as if it was dropped) she now goes back to drop my chicken in the oil.This nasty ass girl didn't have on no gloves, grabbing the chicken with her bare hands, and putting it in the oil.Then I had a large okra, she grabbed that too, with her nasty ass hands, no gloves, and no utensils, just filthy. They had like 50 pieces of chicken pre done, and all they was doing was reheating it in the oil. Then the girl on the register just threw it up on the counter, and went back to the register then said there go your food. Like no I apologize for the wait, and no sense of care of my time at all. I'm wondering, how is it that she was upset when I'm the one who should have be upset at her "miss lady." However, I did not make a scene, I politely left with my co-worker, and most importantly, I will never ever revisit Uncle Remus ever again in my life! And I will be sure to tell my co-workers at the VA the biggest customer base in the area about...

Spent $43.73 this evening and waited 40 minutes for old chicken and COLD fries. Of course I didn’t know the chicken was not fresh until I arrived home. The employees saturated the chicken with so much sauce you could not tell it was not fresh until you bit into the chicken. It’s unfortunate as my family and I passed up a number of places to eat and decided to get food from here. Not only was the food TERRIBLE, you have to pay for the rolls now. Unbelievable, and people want you to patronize their businesses. My response is ABSOLUTELY NOT!

I can’t get my money back but there is no excuse for serving old chicken and up charging prices. I find this very sad and disheartening. When this location first opened the food was ALWAYS fresh with reasonable prices. I guess I should have read the reviews here first. I suppose it’s back to Spice n’ Eat or Lawrence’s Fish. I would caution the Customers to be careful eating bad food, as it can make you sick, especially fried food. BTW....if the owner elects to respond please don’t placate my review with the comments “We never serve old food” or “This is not what we are known for”. I had the most frustrating experience at this establishment today, I planned a surprise party for my husband and decided to get the chicken from the uncle Remus in Broadview because I frequently go here and I never had any issues, well that changed today, I came physically into the restaurant on Wednesday 2/3/21 to put my order in for Saturday 2/6/21 so I wouldn’t have any issues, I put the order in as well has paid the order. I arrived at 2:45pm to pick my order of 75 wings up that was supposed to be ready at 2:30pm, the cashier Rita C who was the same cashier who took the order on Wednesday said she thinks they were getting my order ready now, however My order was not ready, I had to wait an additional hour for my order that should have been ready already, I asked to speak with the manager and he gave me a bs excuse about the grease being changed which did not answer why a order I put in and paid for was not ready at the time I requested, I was not accommodated for the inconvenience and it delayed me a hour for my event, this is ridiculous and I will never use uncle Remus for a big order ever again, black business please do better, From a...
