I recently had the pleasure of dining at Aji Peru, a Peruvian restaurant in Provo, and I must say that it was a delightful experience. Our party of five, including myself, had a fantastic time exploring the delectable flavors that this establishment had to offer. One dish that truly captured my taste buds was the lomo saltado. This classic Peruvian dish consists of tender strips of beef sautéed with onions, tomatoes, and spices, served over a bed of rice and fries. From the first bite, I could tell that the flavors were meticulously crafted and blended to perfection. The meat was succulent, the vegetables were fresh, and the combination of spices was both aromatic and tantalizing. Without a doubt, it was one of the best lomo saltados I've had in the Provo area. If you visit Aji Peru, I highly recommend indulging in this dish. On top of that, the rest of my group ordered the ceviche and tallarines verde, and they were equally impressed. The ceviche was bursting with the vibrant flavors of citrus-marinated fish, mixed with onions, cilantro, and a touch of spice. It was incredibly refreshing and boasted a delightful balance of tanginess and zest. The tallarines verde, a pasta dish with a vibrant green sauce made from basil and spinach, was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The combination of perfectly cooked pasta and the aromatic herbal sauce was divine. Overall, our experience at Aji Peru was exceptional. The combination of authentic Peruvian flavors, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience. If you find yourself in Provo, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Aji Peru. Whether you try the lomo saltado, the ceviche, or any other dish on their menu, I am positive that you would thoroughly enjoy it. Aji Peru truly deserves its reputation as one of the best Peruvian restaurants...
Read moreThe place is called “Aji Peru” and stepping inside is like being instantly transported to the heart of Peru. The atmosphere is unpretentious, the kind of warm, homelike space that welcomes you with open arms and the comforting hum of conversation.
The food, oh the food—it’s like your Peruvian grandma cooked it, if you had one. The dish I had was heartwarming lomo saltado that marries tender stir-fried beef with a tang of vinegar and a kick of amarillo chilies, all intermingling with perfectly cooked onions and tomatoes that melt in your mouth. It’s the kind of food that doesn’t just fill your stomach but also feeds your soul.
Yet, despite the exceptional culinary experience, “AJI Peru” remains a hidden gem, unjustly quiet. The lack of a bustling crowd, the absence of a waitlist—it’s baffling. I came in on a Friday evening, and as I left, I thought to myself, This place should be packed, buzzing with the chatter of diners discovering the richness of Peruvian cuisine, waiters weaving through packed tables, laughter mingling with the sounds of sizzling pans.
It’s the kind of spot that should be overflowing with eager diners, all partaking in the communal joy of a meal that transcends the ordinary. One can only hope that the word spreads soon—this little Peruvian kitchen is too good to remain...
Read moreWhat a delightful, cute little place! This place was previously serving just central American food but is now owned by Peruvians who have brought their unique South American flavor. Don’t be fooled by the location and the generic signage outside—this place is legit and the food is just stellar. I have had many Latin American dishes and this is some of the best I’ve had. We had gallina de aji, lomo saltado, and a dish I cannot remember that had green sauce on spaghetti with steak. All three were amazing, unique and very high quality. The food tasted like fine home cooking, and the service was just like that. Everyone in our group (5) was just stunned with how good every dish was. We all decided we had to share the news with the world.
This place is highly, highly recommended. Their website doesn’t work well. The sign outside just says “restaurant”, and they are just a couple blocks past the “hot spot” on center street. but done let that fool you. Just go. ...
