I have gone here before about 3 times and it has been pretty good. No one else in my family likes their food but I decided to give "Se llama Peru" a chance to introduce my boyfriend to Peruvian food from here, needless to say, I made a huge mistake. We ordered two of the lomo saltados de pollo. We waited only 5 minutes for our food which was kind of odd. We were asked if we wanted anything else, I asked for some salt and green aji sauce, never came. As my boyfriend was eating he noticed the chicken was cold and frozen in some areas as well as the fries. The rice seemed like it was microwaved from the day before and I as well had cold pieces of chicken and fries. Not room temperature but COLD FROZEN pieces. We decided to stop eating and 20 minutes later the waiter came and asked us if we needed anything. I let her know what happened with the food and she just ran to the back without saying anything. The owner came and asked us what was going on, I proceeded to tell him and then he told us that we knew nothing about food, we're crazy, he knows how his restaurant works and everything is always fresh. We started to argue about what was going on and he said we ate too much of the food (when each of us probably took three bites each) and that we would have to pay full price. He never apologized about anything and made us pay. I will never go here again not because of the food but because of the management being horrible and the owner being extremely rude and not understanding at all. Honestly, please save your money and never go here, unless you want to get ridiculed and have...
Read moreTerrible! This is an awful place. The quality of the food is awful and the prices are way too high for it! I’m a native Peruvian who knows what real Peru Ian food tastes like. We eat real homemade food often and man, let’s just say that this place doesn’t show the true beauty and flavors of Peruvian cuisine. They can fool People who do not know much about Peruvian food or returned lds missionaries who miss the food. But they can’t fool a true Peruvian who has eaten amazing Peruvian food. We have ordered multiple items here. The lomo saltado is not right. The flavor is just off. The meat used is not the proper meat for this dish and it missed a lot of the onions and tomatoes that make this dish. They use frozen fries! You do NOT use frozen fries in Peruvian cuisine! The side salad is horrible large chunks of cheap iceberg lettuce! The salchipapas are terrible. I promise you this is not the typical taste or look of Peruvian salchipapa. The hot dog strips were so thin and the hot dogs used were so fake and gross. The pollo a la brasa tastes very soy saucey and misses the main brasa flavor that makes this popular dish what it is. The rice didn’t even have a good flavor. It tasted and looked like it was sitting out all day. Also, it took an eternity to bring the food out. Sorry to be so blunt. But I am pregnant and was craving some good home cooked type food. We thought Peruvian will do the trick. So disappointed. Never going back. The Milanesa and parrilla de carne, the jalea, nothing was good. The yuca in the jalea was so flavorless and not fried well. Good, fresh ingredients and more authentic flavor would make this place...
Read moreWhat a terrible place to dine. I was told by many friends not to come here but I wanted to give it a chance. We came to eat here tonight at 7 p.m. By this time they were out of food we were told by the kind waitress that in the afternoon is when they usually get a lot of people coming in. So when it comes to dinner time they ran out of food. There was no chica morada, no maracuay, no pollo a la brasa, no ají de gallina, no sopa de gallina, no papá rellena, no causa, no papa a la huancaina, like everything that we were all looking forward to eating was no longer on the menu. On top of that the service was so bad. It took an hour for us to get our food. The poor waitress was running back and forth and attending everyone else. By the time we got out and our bill was paid for it was 9 pm. The food was just okay they didn’t have the sauces we were hoping to eat with our food. They only had ají rocoto and ají huacatay. A friends fried chicken from her tallerines verde was not fully cooked and had some pink in it. The lomo saltado was too salty as if they just dumped all the soy sauce in. The ceviche had tilapia fish which is a cheap fish and it made the ceviche taste bland. Overall not a good experience. My Peruvian friends that came with me to this restaurant did not approve of this place. My two stars go out to that amazing waitress that did her best to keep the...
