I am watching the first dance video of my daughter's wedding on December 22 and could not be more pleased with how lovely White Willow looked, totally complimenting this beautiful couple. It was an evening event and the glow of the chandeliers spread elegance over everything. When the young people started to party I was pleased to see the older couples unite with old acquaintances in the quieter front parlor where they stayed visiting even after the couple left. We came from out of town and did our own refreshments. We had reserved White Willow from 10 AM to 10 PM and I am so glad we did. I did what Laurel describes as a "drop and dash" first thing at 10 and Laurel was all set and ready for our invasion. We returned from the grocery store at noon and the work began. Laurel was there every step of the way and she had a beautiful person, McKenna, as her assistant. I was right in the middle of melting chocolate when the bridesmaids came in and said "Time for first look!!!" I couldn't stop what I was doing but McKenna stepped right in and had everything under control when I came back. I wanted some of the food containers elevated but had to leave for the ceremony and when I returned Laurel had them set up perfectly. I loved that I was able to go up to the bride's room and change into my reception dress. White Willow is only minutes from where we had our ceremony. One of my grandchildren clogged the restroom with too much toilet paper and Laurel's husband, David, had it fixed in no time and did not appear perturbed by the inconvenience. He handled the music and our announcements and did an awesome job. Also, the restrooms are very nice. They moved tables where ever we needed them and provided extension cords and anything else we needed. I used everything in their well stocked kitchen. Everyone was saying how relaxed and organized everything was and were so impressed by how nice everything looked. Of course, my daughter was my focal point all evening, but now that I have a chance to look at the pictures, I agree with what everyone was saying. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Laurel, David,...
Read moreI hope they now have a new person overseeing their events because my wedding was a joke due to poor management. First, I was misquoted on the price and was told the correct amount one day before the wedding, I then had to take the money out of the honeymoon funds. Second, I had all white flowers, I was told to drop them off the day before the wedding to be put in the cooling room. All my flowers were not put away so when I came in all the flowers had turned brown in the hot reception room. My mother didn't want me to worry and replaced the flowers the morning of the wedding. My bouquet was put in a DIRTY bucket so it stained my dress. There was no one available to tell us where the rest of the flowers were so I had no bridesmaids bouquets until after the ceremony. Third, it rained outside and no runner was put down the aisle so my dress was soaked in mud. They also did not set up the sound system so only the guests in the front row could hear our vows. Fourth, I had spent a lot of money on candles and I asked them all to be lit with no overhead lighting for the dinner. They assured me this was not a problem. They did not light any of the candles. Fifth, the food was 2 HOURS LATE. Meaning I had to awkwardly go through all the toasts and stretch out entertainment while my guests were bored and hungry. The toilets were also broken in the brides room. We were told to arrive an hour early to go over the ceremony, no one showed up so we had to wing it. And there were dirty food containers under the brides table. I am pretty laid back and most would describe me as a tomboy, I didn't expect a perfect fairy tale wedding but dealing with all of these variables was incredibly stressful. It seems this is a good venue for a dessert bar and a flowing reception. But I would suggest running away if you want to do a ceremony and sit...
Read moreWe had a wedding reception here tonight and had a terrible experience with the venue staff. The event went well, however, and the place is charming.
The problems: The bathrooms were dirty when we arrived to set up. When we asked, the attendant was very annoyed. They set an easel next to a glass decoration. A 1-year old guest bumped into the easel which dropped and broke inches from the baby. This could have easily resulted in death or serious injury to the baby. The staff member did not show any concern, or ask if everyone was okay. Instead, the staff was immediately annoyed, sighed loudly, and started asking who was going to pay. We cleaned up the glass despite the dangerous incident. We also cleaned the bathrooms ourselves. Not that it matters, but we took pictures of the wipes showing the filth. Even if the bathrooms weren’t dirty, how does a business treat the customer so rudely when we raise a complaint? The yard work in front has not been done. Weeds covered the front sign. Not a big deal but it made it hard to see the sign.
Positive: The house is beautiful, the layout is cool. The tablecloths and center pieces were nice. The sound system worked well enough. Plenty of parking. The A/C...
