⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Slackwater – Provo (Riverwoods)
Visited: Thursday evening with family Reviewed by: Kevin Kraft
We had dinner at Slackwater in Provo for our last evening together before my daughter heads off to college — and it was the perfect place to share a memorable meal.
We started with the Caprese Salad served on focaccia, which was a surprise standout — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It was a hit with everyone at the table. We also ordered Nate’s Buffalo Wings and the Diablo Sticks. The wings were solid — slightly better than average — but the Diablo Sticks were excellent. Fair warning though: they pack serious heat, so be prepared if you’re spice-sensitive.
For mains, we went big: • The Cardiac Arrest Calzone was probably my personal favorite — indulgent, rich, and perfectly baked. • We also shared three pizzas: • A Buffalo Chicken pie • A Pepperoni + Spicy Honey combo (a great contrast of sweet/heat) • And one recommended by our fantastic server Joe — The Grape & Gorgeous.
Truthfully, the Grape & Gorgeous was our least favorite flavor-wise, but ironically it was the first one we finished. I think we all wanted to like it more because of Joe’s enthusiasm — and by the end of the meal, my youngest son Axel was convinced it might’ve actually been his favorite slice. That kind of moment says a lot about the vibe of the place.
Speaking of which — the atmosphere is fantastic. Lively without being overwhelming, upbeat without being rushed. Joe, our server, was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and a true pro with recommendations. The Riverwoods shopping center where Slackwater is located added to the experience — it’s a beautiful spot, and a great place to walk around before or after dinner.

Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a place that serves up great food, energetic service, and a laid-back environment, Slackwater absolutely delivers. Whether it’s a casual weeknight meal or a special sendoff dinner like ours, it’s a spot we’ll absolutely return to.
Recommended Orders: ✔️ Caprese Focaccia ✔️ Diablo Sticks (if you like spice) ✔️ Cardiac Arrest Calzone ✔️ Spicy Honey + Pepperoni Pizza

Read moreMy family and I have been to Slackwater quite a few times! We love the atmosphere, and the vibe is very positive. The services are in general very good as well! We see a lot of large families gathering together, and the services do not suffer because the restaurant is too busy. I also like their decor and the overall energy of the place!
However, in our last visit, I became a bit disappointed with the food. I personally have not found the perfect pizza style/combination that I would want to order regularly from them. So, every time we go, I try different pizza toppings, etc. I also like to order wings so we don’t eat only carbs when going to a pizza place, and Slackwater has a few options for wings. Unfortunately, in our last visit, I felt that the chicken wings weren’t tasting very fresh, in spite of the seasoning that is put on, which makes their wings more flavorful. In a place like Slackwater, I didn’t expect to be served chicken that didn’t taste fresh!
We also ordered pizzas and they were all served almost cold. A good pizza has to be served hot, with the cheese melting! I ordered my pizza with only mozzarella, instead of their three cheese blend, but the mozzarella was cold and rubbery. The whole experience was a bit of a let down. Yes, the environment and atmosphere are great. Services are very good, but the most important is the food. Unfortunately, I can’t say that their food is as good as the vibe in the restaurant! Hopefully I still can...
Read moreWe arrived at 9pm on a Saturday and just missed the dinner rush which was great as we were told the wait was 2 hours. Our waitress was really nice and attentive as the rest of the staff. They have a large beer selection but no mixed drinks, they do have a small wine selection. We had appetizers, wings and spinach dip. The wings were small but SO good and crispy, the spinach dip had either too much sharp cheese or cream cheese for my liking and kind of bland. We also had a Caesar salad which I’d skip next time, nothing amazing about it and we had pizza. An all meat and something with avacado and greens too which I think is their version of CPKs California club (no match for the original sorry but still tasty). The all meat tho was REALLY good, they both had a crispy yet soft crust. I’ll come back for that one and the wings for sure tho. They have indoor and bar seating, outdoor seating with fire pits which I want to try next time. Dress code is chill with casual lighting, very “mellow vibe”. I do wish they had a bigger dessert selection, maybe a yummy butter cake??? Just throwing it out there lol. Our bill came to $90 which included 1 glass of wine, 2 beers, 2 appetizers, 1 half salad and 2 pizzas which I felt was decently priced. And it is not difficult to find as stated by others, it’s right by...
