I have frequented both Rodizio and Tucanos for the past 9 years. My wife and I still go to both multiple times a year, sometimes in consecutive days. Rodizio is just better. It boggles the mind how Tucanos is as busy as it is while this Rodizio location is much less so.
Most importantly, the meat service at this location is far better than at Tucanos. Meats comes so much faster, and they are always hot and well prepared. At Tucanos I often get cold, rare meat that simply doesn’t taste as good, even though Tucanos serves many of the same cuts. The picanha and maminha are consistently excellent every time. The frango agri-doce is one of my favorites (while not at all Brazilian), and the Tucanos version is a big step down. The parmesan steak is amazing and there is no equivalent at Tucanos. The abacaxi (pineapple) is excellent at Rodizio as well. They put full pineapples on each skewer and slice off thin strips coated in the brown sugar glaze, while Tucanos cuts you off weird triangular chunks which isn’t close to as good. Like with all meats, you want the exterior, and Rodizio knows this.
The salad bar at Rodizio is also better than at Tucanos. While Tucanos’ looks a bit more festive and has options like sushi (I don’t go to a Brazilian restaurant for sushi), the overall quality is better at Rodizio. I went to both Rodizio and Tucanos over consecutive days this week and compared. Salad bar size at Rodizio is roughly on par with Tucanos. The pao de queijo at Tucanos has taken a nosedive, and Rodizio makes it bigger and fluffier. The bananas are much better at Tucanos with the cinnamon breading, but Tucanos is very slow to refill. Rodizio recently put out cinnamon sugar to top the bananas, and it adds a lot. Rodizio’s pineapple coconut coleslaw is much better than Tucanos’ tropical coleslaw (add cinnamon sugar from the bananas to the coleslaw, trust me), and Rodizio’s spicy chicken salad is excellent as well.
The Brazilian limeades at Rodizio put the Brazilian lemonades at Tucanos to shame. There are more flavor add-ins (like coconut) at Rodizio and an option for a diet base limeade, and the limeades come much, much frothier and creamier, as it should be. Tucanos skimps on the whole “frothy” element, though they do give you a refill jar. I don’t mind not having the refill jar because I just get to try more fruit mix-in combinations.
Desserts are delicious at both places, though Tucanos doesn’t really match Rodizio’s bolo brigadeiro royal, and has no equivalent for the rabanada. As a French toast fanatic, I highly recommend the rabanada. I haven’t had anything like it anywhere else.
Tucanos can’t compare to the service of Rodizio. The managers, especially Baruk and Shaye know my wife and me by name, the meat servers are always incredibly friendly, and the limeade refills come fast. At Tucanos I sometimes feel like I’m pulling teeth to get an extra slice of meat or request to see another meat again, or for fresh/exterior meat. At Rodizio there are instances where I get two or three different meats in a span of 30 seconds, and servers always quickly honor requests to get a new or more well-done skewer of meat.
I also prefer the ambience of Rodizio. It’s a bit darker and more upscale, and I prefer the meat servers’ gaucho outfits to the colored polos all Tucanos employees wear. The tables, chairs, and booths are nicer as well, while at Tucanos I often feel like I’m shoved in a corner at a table the looks like it was stolen from the local primary room.
My wife and I both felt sick walking out of Tucanos on Tuesday, and we immediately went to bed (at 7:30pm). On Wednesday we walked out of Rodizio totally full, yet we still exercised later that day.
If you frequent Tucanos more than Rodizio, I invite you to go to both in consecutive days to get an honest comparison. You pay a little bit more at Rodizio ($33 compared to $28), but it’s worth it to get a Brazilian churrascaria experience that doesn’t...
Read moreI come to Rodizio’s one to three times a year for the last several years. I enjoy the variety of meats and the salad bar. I do enjoy that the ambiance is usually less crowded and busy than Tucano’s. I enjoy the food and I have been coming for awhile but the customer service has been lacking.
The last two visits to Rodizio’s has me leaving frustrated and annoyed. I took my friend out for her birthday. We were having a great time. I asked if she could get her complimentary birthday flan. The waiter promptly responded that a complimentary birthday flan was not an option. I told him that my birthday was the month prior and had received a complimentary birthday flan. He proceeded to talk down to me and said, “whoever helped you must have been new and did not know what they were doing” with a smile like that was supposed to make me feel better. I asked him to double check with a manager. He came back, did not apologize, but said he could bring us a complimentary flan for my friend’s birthday.
I was not going to leave a review for the above but my last visit to Rodizio’s left me even more annoyed. We had enjoyed our food and placed the red/green meat stopper on its side indicating we were done and ready for the check. It was not very busy and yet, it took 20+ minutes for someone to walk by for me to stop them and request for the check. My friend took me out for my birthday and had so indicated with our waitress. Therefore, we were surprised when we received the check to receive the full price, not the birthday deal. I had to yet again flag down the waitress and tell her that we did not receive the deal which took even more time that we did not want to be there. She asked if I was part of Club Rodizio. I responded yes and showed her an email. However, I had not received a recent email but only one from 2019. She proceeded to say I needed to resign up. Not sure why she could not look up my cell phone number or email like I have other people done before. Long story short, considering we made it clear we were there for a birthday, instead of assuming we were not part of Club Rodizio and wasting our time, she should have asked us prior to bringing the check at full price.
The food is great but these back to back annoying experiences are stupid. That’s why I rate a 2 star. No one likes being talked down to when going out to eat or their time being wasted. The whole switching up of the bill took another...
Read moreRodizio is THE premier Brazilian steakhouse experience in Utah Valley.
A lot of people just go to Tucanos because it's more well known and is a bit cheaper, but by overlooking Rodizio, they shortchange themselves from an experience that's vastly superior in every way. From the outstanding, friendly service, the quality and flavor of the meats and overall authenticity of the foods, to the ambiance of the restaurant itself, Rodizio as a Brazilian steakhouse stands alone in Utah Valley.
At Rodizio, the meat servers will happily give you another slice of meat without reluctance. The picanha (top sirlion) and maminha (tri-tip) are mouth-wateringly good. The abacaxi (grilled pineapple) is to die for. Their pāo de queijo (cheese-bread) is some of the best I've tasted in the US (I have lived in Brazil). The selections in their salad bar are overall more authentic than their Tucanos counterparts, and generally better tasting, too. And don't get me started on their limeades. SO good, so creamy, frothy, and consistently perfect. And Rodizio offers more mix-in flavors, diet limeade options (if you prefer) and brings you refills so much faster, on top of it all.
With a reservation, you hardly have to wait at all before being seated at Rodizio. When you are seated, it's not stuffed away in some corner. Their tables and booths are nice and the entire ambiance of the restaurant is much more classy.
The restaurant is well managed, too. Two of the managers, Baruk and Shaye, know my husband and me by name and they make a point to greet us personally every time we are there, which is often, because we love it so much. Their staff is friendly and efficient. A true love of Brazil runs through the entire establishment, and it reflects in the superior quality of, well, everything there.
I cannot recommend Rodizio enough. Go to Rodizio and see for yourself why it's...
