The best! Please read to the end! Dylan served us with wonderful enthusiasm, great professionalism, and remarkable cheerfulness! He was very busy with customers at many tables. The relaxing, friendly atmosphere across the diner was in great part because of Dylan's attentive service. As he hurried around the dining area serving others, we several times needed some service like extra butter or drink refills. With each request, Dylan responded pleasantly and without hesitation. That made our breakfast a wonderful, memorable experience. That's important to me today because what Dylan didn't know was that my wife is nearing the end of her life. With terminal cancer, she has about another week to live and we just needed to enjoy another morning together and make another happy memory. If Dylan had known that, of course he would have paid extra attention. The special thing about him is that he paid extra attention without knowing. And once he found out, he showed incredible empathy and kindness. I hope he does know that his interactions with others make a positive difference. Today he lifted our lives and showed us what caring about others looks like. After out meal, we slowly made our way out to our car. Dylan had missed our departure, but seeing us in the parking lot, he hurried out to shake my hand, wish us well, and offer some encouraging words. It's people like Dylan that make Village Inn a wonderful place to dine and the world a better place to live....
Read moreIf it wasn't for the super friendly waitress Montana, this eaterie would get a one star. Montana was the only waitress working and was quickly attending every table with a smile. Unmoved by the heavy workload placed in front of her. The restaurant overall looked clean even if the furnishings look a bit outdated.
Unfortunately, the quality of the food is really disastrous. I was left extremely disappointed from what was expected on the menu. I recognize that this is supposed to be a diner but comparison with similar eateries like Denny's the food is well below subpar. I imagine this place maybe good for a pie and coffee (two I didn't try).
Yet what is most disturbing is the poor leadership skills manger, Shawn, displayed during interactions with his waitress. To patrons including myself he was courteous and kind. Yet from observation of conversations he was having with his waitress, it was of poor taste. I heard him various times use vulgar language to describe the work load he was having and troubles he was experiencing understanding the order ticket from his waitress. He seemed he was overwhelmed by the amount of patrons and lack of staff he had on hand. In excusable for any leaderand I felt very bad for Montana.
I hope this review finds the right eyes to reevaluate the stressful work environment here and recognize the only shining star...
Read moreWe were looking for a place to eat in Provo, and chose Village Inn partly for the nostalgia of it all, and partly because of the tremendous reviews - I read about 10 of them and they all mentioned the server, Dylan, but also had great things to say about the restaurant. Well today was our lucky day, as we were seated in Dylan’s section! He is totally on top of everything - had everything we needed, anticipated several things we were going to need, was personable without being intrusive. Fantastic! Now on to the food - my husband had the Rueben and fries. The sandwich was spot on, and the fries were the best crinkle fries he’s ever had - compliments to the chef! I had a garden skillet with eggs over medium, which was pretty much perfect- the eggs were done right and there was a great mix of veggies and potatoes in the skillet. It also came with pancakes, which were absolutely delicious. All in all, what a fantastic meal, and totally unexpected!! Will be back when...
