After 30 years of coming to Pueblo I had never made it in here. Now I know why: I got a seat at the bar with a great view of the kitchen, I could see everything that was going on and not going on. I had my 1st Batch 19 it was a light beer with a good portion on Munich malt in it, I like Munich malt. Walter's Pilsner a few blocks away had Munich malt as primary flavor as well. After 20 minutes and now into my 2nd beer, I was asked if I had ordered I said I thought I did. They checked on it and said it's coming. Meanwhile, I am now observing many different things going on. People coming up from the patio to place their order because noone was waiting on them. Then I kept noticing the flat top where they cook the burgers was empty for 5-10 minutes at a time. It would appear they could only cook 16 burgers at a time. Then the flat top would sit empty as the burger's were in the drain so the grease cook poor off of them. Then a couple came from the back arguing over it's time to go but noone came by to take their payment. They came up to the bar from the patio to pay as his girl friend left angry about the wait for food the wait to pay. After asking how is my standard slopper coming along and into my third beer now and very hungry. I came in there to eat not to get drunk and observe all these issues. My slopper and fries finally arrived and now their telling everyone 45 minutes to an hour for food. The process at the flat top was consistent 16 burgers drain them process them, then start 16 more. If your that busy the flat top should not be left idle for up to 10 minutes at a time. I told them the kitchen was slow playing it! Make people wait longer to drink more beer while your waiting. The slopper was un seasoned" just a hit with pepper and salt" on the flat top would have helped. So I waited a long time for a mediocre slopper the fries were good. Over all the place was diss functional, the kitchen was not moving the food like all other restaurants do. The management team has "0" experience running a restaurant. Now I know why haven't been in there in 30 years. Brues and Brews gets it, and has the best bar food in town. The food is also timely. After 100 years and passed down from the generations, the current management team and chefs all need to go, or at least back to school to be re educated on how to run...
Read moreThis was the first and LAST time I will ever support this restaurant! I have never been so insulted & mistreated in my entire life! I don't know if the staff did not like my appearance or my ethnicity. I cannot figure it out, but I paid good money to be treated unkindly. I came in and ordered food to go, the female that took my order looked at me like I was from outer space. I asked for sloppers to go with the free fries since it was Monday. She said no that they are only free if I eat them there. I didn't see that on the menu! REALLY? Okay, I did not argue with her. She took my order & never returned. I sat at the bar for what seemed an eternity & nobody asked to refill my drink. I had to ask MYSELF!. Everyone around me was being attended to except me. I waited & waited & I asked the person behind the bar where my food was. He was like I don't know I am just a bar hop. I happened to look at the end of the bar & there was a huge box with food. Nobody bothered to tell me it was mine. It probably was sitting there a good 30 minutes, but I was the last to know it was mine. I asked somebody & he rolled his eyes at me when I asked about that food. Then they proceeded to try to charge me again for food I already paid for. Honestly, I don't care what people say about this food!! It is not that good! The service is horrible! I guess if you do not fit their profile as a person they want to serve then you better just walk away. Shame on them! That is how you treat a new customer? You certainly left a lasting...
Read moreIf you plan to visit Gray's after 8:00 pm on a Friday night make sure you've got good directions since their sign wasn't on when we went last night.
The green chili was exceptionally good, one of the best I've had. Unfortunately, the onions used to garnish the dish were going bad and ruined the dish. Also, I'm not a fan of processed cheese. Gray's uses processed cheese for their sloppers and that took away from the dish as well.
My wife ordered their cheese enchiladas and was disappointed that they used the same processed cheese in their enchiladas. Also, they had closed off the mexocan side of the grill and didn't have any beans or rice to go with her meal (as stated on the menu). It wasn't that big of a deal, but they didn't even bother to offer a dicount or any replacement.
The green chili was worth the visit, but if ever we go there again we'll be sure to ask fo freshly grated Monterey Jack on the Slopper as well as fresh onions!
To be fair, we got there at 8:30 pm and they close at 9:00 pm. However, I'm a firm believer in not closing you restaurant down before your advertised time! The restaurant was clean and the staff that we interacted with were...
