Mixed bag on this review. My husband and I went and shared dinner. I ordered the 32oz t-bone steak extra rare with a baked potato and green beans. He ordered beef ravioli in Alfredo sauce. Our salads, while being just iceberg, were exceptionally fresh. Neither of us liked the Alfredo sauce, very bland and underwhelming. But the ravioli were so very good. The beef filling was a much finer texture than typical ground beef, almost the texture of ricotta. The pasta itself tasted fresh. So meh sauce but perfect ravioli. Will get again but with a red sauce. My potato was fluffy and nice. I didn't love the green beans, they were cooked with bacon and very salty. Husband finished them and thought they were ok. But the real disappointment for me was my steak. It was medium, gray hot center, to medium rare, hot light pink center, in places. Also, I don't think it was seasoned with anything. When we got the receipt it was rung in as medium rare. So, perhaps the waitress made an error, and the kitchen forgot to season the meat but it was a large fail. Fed most of the steak to my husband who will tolerate (over) cooked meat more than me. (Could have sent back the steak, but hate throwing away meat and on a busy weekend night was unwilling to have a substantial wait for a corrected steak). The tiramisu was good and tasted homemade. Be forewarned, this is one large empty room with no partitions or decor. Well, they did have Christmas lights strung up, a 10 foot length fell on several unfortunate patrons as we were eating. Cannot recommend for ambiance. Would try again, perhaps my steak was a horrible aberration and normally they season their meat and do know how to get a good rare. Husband said would try a...
Read more1st and last time visit. We ordered a steak with a salad mashed potatoes and broccoli and some tacos with spanish rice with a soda and a old fashioned. One of the best old fashioned that I've ever had. The salad came out about the same time as the food. The tacos came without the salsa we ordered. Called the waitress back, she said they had to make some salsa real quick. By the time the salsa came I was half done with my steak. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were marginal. The steak seemed like a Wal-Mart cut at best. It had decent flavor, but wouldn't recommend. So then I figured I'd try to fill up on salad, pure vinegar on the "homemade " Italian. Now let's talk about the chicken tacos on white. Zero flavor, the Spanish rice was sticky and tasted like watered down tomatoe sauce. We were ready to go when the waitress came over, she knew we were not impressed as our almost half full plates were still there and we were ready to go. She apologized and said she would get the manager even though we never asked. We decided to go pay and leave. The "manager" met us at the register and was asked what was wrong and started defending this horrible excuse for food with attitude. She told us how many tacos they sold and "that's how we make them and everybody loves them". She told how the salad dressing was home made. Asked us to please come again. We did not nor did we inniciacte the complaint, We have we ever had a poor excuse for a "MANAGER " come at us at us before. We paid the the bill with the 50% discount off one meal that was offered and not asked for. The food was not near as bad as the attitude for this "manager" hopefully she treats the staff better than the customers. 0/10...
Read moreYou can hardly tell this is a restaurant and I was a little suspicious at first upon entering but they have great food. They're very accommodating as well. The owner is friendly and so is the waitress. This is hands down the best chicken fried steak in town. It was tender yet crunchy and well seasoned. It comes with one or all of the three sauces at your request: a white gravy, a brown gravy, or green chili and they are all spectacular, especially the green chili, which had the perfect amount of spice to leave your mouth with that good burn. They even make a green chili pancake that is not on the menu yet but it is outstanding as well. In fact, the pancake batter alone is reminiscent of what grandma used to make and not what is now found at chain pancake houses. Even the simplest of things like eggs over easy were cooked perfectly and were not rubbery like at other restaurants. The price of the items is what is most astounding. For $14 I ordered the chicken fried steak which came with two eggs, a plate of hash browns and two pieces of sourdough toast. The chicken fried steak was the size of its own plate. I even took half of it home along with half of the toast because it was so good yet so filling. The ambiance of the restaurant could use a boost, but it is obvious that the owners are very hard-working and very good at cooking. They only serve breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays but it is something to look forward...
