We have had the pleasure of visiting Blackstone twice within a week. Our first visit was on a Friday for lunch, and I highly recommend making reservations for any meal, whether lunch or dinner. Our second visit was on Thursday evening. During our Friday lunch, I sampled a margarita flight featuring muddled fruits and homemade syrup; the flavors were outstanding. On Thursday, I opted for the bourbon flight, also prepared with homemade syrups and infused fruits. While the bourbons were enjoyable, the margaritas were undoubtedly superior.
One highlight of our meals was the wedge salad, which we ordered twice; it’s served on a generous plate, perfect for sharing. The deviled eggs also stood out, offering a delightful variety of toppings while remaining a simple yet delicious dish. The sliders were remarkable, and we shared them after cutting them in half. The handmade egg rolls were a treat as well, and the steak and cheese egg roll was exceptionally cheesy and delicious.
We also tried the French fry flight, which featured frozen, coated fries. While I typically prefer homemade fries, the toppings were flavorful. However, I was disappointed that the cheese curds in the poutine were not melted—something I value in poutine, as I seek that gooey texture wherever I go.
The staff at Blackstone is well-trained, friendly, and attentive, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance features dim lighting and tasteful decor, with only nine tables available for reservations, creating an intimate setting. The outdoor patio promises to be a delightful space once the weather improves. We had the opportunity to meet the owner, a very pleasant gentleman, and we wholeheartedly encourage others to explore this new...
Read moreWent out for lunch with a friend for the first time at Blackstone. Upon seating our server came over explained the menu and we put in our food and drink order. My friend asked if they had any iced tea and the server stated no, but then we saw the table next to us order iced tea so we were confused. Before placing any order I asked for separate checks which the server advised they could do. Food took about 45-50 minutes to come out which was wildly insane. We saw tables that were sat after us getting their food before us. The service was really non existent, I was beginning to think the server forgot about our food order because at one point she came over to us and asked if we had gotten menus….. after she took our entire order so I said “yes, you took our order, remember?”… the food, which I got the Vegan flight wasn’t very impressive. The tiny slider was not that great tasting. The Romain leaf with hummus, I was confused on how one eats it because it was too floppy to pick up. Honestly the fries were the star of the show. Once we finished the server came back over, we asked for the check and the server brought one check. Confused, I asked if she split the check… and she said, not to our surprise that she forgot. I’m really not sure what was going on with our server or why the food took so long, but I also did not think it was really worth the price either. $17 for the flight (3 items) when I can go somewhere and get a full sized meal?… but that’s just me. I definitely do not intend on going back but the decor inside and outside was...
Read moreOverall, very good. A bit pricey for this area of CT but we will be back. This restaurant focuses on flights of drinks and foods and being our 1st visit there we tried a sangria flight 4 small samples of sangria all were very good but tiny portions for $22 I expected a little more. We tried a flight of Deviled Eggs. Again very good however I just paid $15 for 3 eggs and was willing to but I wanted variety. Each egg was the same with different toppings. Had the fillings each been different no complaints I was beginning to think this was a mistake until our sliders flight arrived. We chose double cheeburger, fried chicken and meatball. This flight really shined and was delicious. The aoli on the chicken stood out as well as the hiw great the chicken was. The cheeseburger was divine and had outstanding flavor. The meatball was one of the best meatballs I have ever had and the thick and chunky sauce it came skotherwitb was incredibly good. All the sandwiches were done on grilled brioche buns and were filling. The bartender made me an excellent hot and dirty martini which wasn't on yhe menu and it was superb. Finally desert was not planned as we already had our bill but my wife asked what they had and the list was extensive. We settled on pistachio and ricotta cake that was mind numbing good. I dont even like deserts and this was extraordinary in all ways. I will most definitely be back. The atmosphere was nice as well as the service. It's a bit pricey to be a regular lunch or dinner spot but for special occasions I would highly...
