Was very excited for our reservation today only to be immediately disappointed. Although we arrived right on time there was no table ready for my small party of 2. The staff decided to get us chairs from outside to make us a quick table. The table was not set up like the others and was in the corner. All other tables were set up with linens and had cloth napkins folded into hearts. Our table only had some paper napkins and not decorated at all. Clearly they did not have a place for our reservation and didnt even care to set up our table like the others, which is pretty lazy. This started everything off on a bad note. We started our tea experience and were asked if we wanted cream with our tea and waited for it to be brought. After a bit of waiting and not getting the cream, after watching our waitress on her phone texting I went to ask a different waitress for cream, which was brought to us promptly. The tea menu said there was 2 soups available on the menu, a tomato soup and a soup of the day. There was no soup of the day. So as a non tomato soup fan was a little disappointing. The rest of the service and food was good. My main issue was with the clear difference in treatment of our reservation verses everyone else in the establishment. Overall, I wouldn't be back, simply because I paid for the experience and was treated less than everyone else. I didn't book a reservation to get put in a makeshift table in the corner not even set like the other tables. It was just lazy and poor planning. I have no faith in this businesses ability to treat me like my reservation meant anything at all. At $55 a person I did expect to be treated the same as everyone else in the establishment.

Edit to add after owner response: My main issue is that I made a reservation and was put at a random not set up table pushed into a corner that wasn't decorated like all other tables. There was a clear difference with my table having just paper napkins when every other table had linens and cloth napkins folded into hearts. My table was also not wiped off properly as I'm sure it wasnt a table meant for seating at all as it had no chairs and had to get some random ones from outside. With your establishment my reservation didn't reserve me a table. The problem wasn't that you were busy, it was your staff that didn't have a reserved table. Again, I want to be clear that the staff failed to prepare a table for...

I had wanted to try afternoon tea for awhile and so for my birthday we went 😀 So many good things. We made a reservation and did the duchess tea service.

The tea selection was huge and I had a hard time deciding because there were so many good choices. I got the English pudding one I think it was called, a black tea with fruity chocolatey notes.

The food was so good. They start you with a cup of soup, today was potato chowder YUM. Then we got fresh baked scones with options to put a raspberry jam, an apple butter and their version of Devonshire cream. The scones were hot and fresh and perfect. I have never had the cream before but now I cant wait to try other types.

After the scones we had 3 savory mini sandwiches. My 1st cucumber one ever, a ham fig and goat cheese, and then orchard chicken salad. All of them were delicious There was fresh fruit and the last piece the sweet treats, there was a cookie and a pumpkin cream cake. I wasn't a fan of the cookie but thats my personal preference. The cake though was very good, soft with the right amount of flavor.

The server was so sweet and attentive and explained all the dishes and the process.

The only thing that I wished was different was a slightly bigger table.

I will for sure be doing this again soon as the whole experience...

I’ve been dying to try this place for months. It seems super hard to get into. I made reservations a few weeks in advance for my mom’s birthday on the only open weekend they had (no event)…….but they ended up having an event anyways. A party of 3 reserving two high dutchess teas at $40 each because the minimum order is 2. Our table was literally tiny. I asked “ummm I reserved two tea services I’m concerned it’s not going to fit”, I asked for possibly a bigger table. It was not possible. I had to squeeze into the corner along with moving the table in just so my mom could get into her seat. Our tiered tea tray was underwhelming with 3 mini sandwiches each, a few grapes and blueberries, and a dessert portion which was the highlight. Was very busy with a cookie decorating class so the courses took a very long time. We were there for almost 2 hrs all while the table I asked to be moved to was vacant. My sister ordered just from the menu and her sandwich and side was much more hearty than our “experience tray”. Thats what I’m telling myself I paid for because I left $103 later for my mom and me feel ehhhh about...

Positives: Good food, nice baked goods. Gracious staff. Negatives: Water was too tepid and didn't brew our tea correctly - no cozies on the tea pots. Our table wobbled a LOT... Like we were on a boat and with our tea on the table it was quite awkward. Their air conditioning was broken... And they can't help that... But they didn't have any fans to move the air and the staff was dying. They weren't complaining but they were hot, sweating! We were hot just sitting. I felt badly for them. This one is a nitpick... But they served an incorrect spoon for sorbet... It wouldn't fit all the way down the glass. For the largest tea service, I paid $50 per person for a party of 5. They didn't automatically add gratuity but our server deserved a very good tip in the heat. Overall, if you are a tea aficionado - I would recommend Queen Mary, George Washington Inn, Bainbridge Apothecary or perhaps Steeped in Comfort in Washington State. For regular lunch... This is solid.

The place and atmosphere was spectacular for christmas tea. The food was so so giving the amount of money we paid. I was expecting more sophisticated sandwiches and desserts. The afternoon tea was composed of a 6 course (tea, soup, scoop with jam and cream, 2 tiny sandwiches and some tiny desserts). Everything was tiny including the soup plate and ice cream scoop. The food taste good except the sour sandwiches. I didn’t like them. I personally think there are other high tea with nicer sandwiches and cheaper prices. So i am a bit disappointed. In addition, they added 20% tips with no option for me to change that. I didn’t like it. I think customers should pick how much gratitude to pay. And inwas not informed of that in advance.
