My friend and I were so excited to try this place. We went last night on a double date with our husbands. She wanted to try the Dubai strawberries and I wanted the Dubai cheesecake. First impression, we were underwhelmed… it’s in a rough parking lot with dumpsters right beside the restaurants, it’s a small building and the “Chocolate Lab” takes up less than half of the building that’s shared with a restaurant called “Fish House” I didn’t really think much of it before we walked in because I just assumed the 2 places would be completely separated. Boy was I WRONG. —Think about what you’re expecting when you go in a dessert shop: usually places like that want to appeal to your senses. Cinnabon, for example, attracts customers with the amazing smell of warm cinnamon rolls. Well, as soon as we walked through the door we were unfortunately greeted with a STRONG fish smell from the adjoining restaurant. Where the 2 places share the building, it’s all in one big room with NO SEPARATION at all. The smell was so strong it turned our stomachs. My friend couldn’t order the strawberries, she lost her appetite and I didn’t want the cheesecake but my husband convinced me to try it and that we would eat it outside away from the stench. After I got outside and of course had immediate relief, we split the cheesecake and it was good, not necessarily $13 good though. I am shocked this place has so many great reviews and only a couple mention the fish smell that we experienced. The best thing chocolate lab could do is move to a strip mall or something with its own space away from the fish restaurant. If they don’t, we...
Read moreWhen I first went here I could not choose what to get. When I say I spent 30 minutes alone trying to figure out and the person who waited on me was so incredibly patient and nice .I thought for sure he may get upset ,but he assured me that he understood that it can be a lot to choose from especially if it’s new and of other culture. He even allowed me a couple of samples because some desserts they had were so different to me and he understood that if you have never tried a different culture’s desserts or food that it can be tricky on what to even get. I actually ended up getting a pina colada crepe and for me it was okay, but it was beautiful. I told him I didn’t like it and that it was just me and he made up for it when I came back another time. The other time I ended up going back and trying one of the go bananas waffles and it was beautiful and yummy. It came with vanilla ice cream inside and a regular banana flavored pudding. The ice cream melted perfectly into the waffle. Look…it didn’t like me ,but I liked it lol (me and milk don’t get along right now) . I also tried a vanilla Tiramisu which was okay as well. Awesome customer service and I felt as if the person cared about me as a customer. It is very clean there and beautifully presented desserts . Also , when you watch desserts being made you can tell he cares about his craft . This review is based on the guy that served me. I will go back and keep...
Read moreIt was out first visit and it was honestly disappointing. I went up to the counter to order the $8 Bubble Waffle create your own option at the bottom of that section. And it states "your choice" and "unlimited toppings" but that wasn't true. I simply wanted pistachio gelato, bananas, strawberries, and chocolate syrup/sauce drizzled on top. As the guy was ringing it up (didn't catch the name as they were constantly rotating thru their people, but kind of a tall, beefy guy) it showed extras for the fruits and I spoke up about it. He then got another guy over there and the guy said "oh try this", hit a couple buttons, then said "it was right" when I repeated my order and I was like how..? It says "your choices, unlimited toppings" and nothing about extra charges for anything. So I paid $12 for an $8 item. It needs to be added at the end of the "flavor option" that additional charges may apply. I then waited 30 minutes for my one non-intricate item; people after me (even by 10 minutes) got their decently sized family orders before me which was a little frustrating. I got like 5 slices of banana and like 4 of strawberry which was not worth the $2 and $1 extra charges. While it was good, I don't plan on being back...
