My kids and I wanted to try a new coffee shop to us. We were up in the North Raleigh area, so we figured we'd give this one a shot.
This place is definitely much less of an actual book store and more of a coffee/brew shop. Cool atmosphere and location. It was packed when we were in there on a Sunday, so that's a good sign that it's a popular spot.
They do offer Oat milk as a plant based option for their coffee drinks, which I definitely appreciated. They have some in house tea drinks as an alternative to coffee, which was great because I don't give coffee to the youngest teenager yet.
Two of us got the Blood Orange iced tea drink and the other two got lattes. We really enjoyed the teas and one of the teens loved the latte. The other teen wasn't impressed with her mocha latte because she said the powder was stuck in the bottom. So my guess is that the mocha latte doesn't work well as an iced option.
I did ask about their food options. While they do offer quite a few gluten free options to all of their food options, they don't offer any vegan options, which is really disappointing. Therefore, I couldn't try any of their food to give feedback on that. In today's day and age, it seems a bit odd to not have any vegan options, so I wasn't thrilled with them from that perspective.
Overall, the place is cool, but they really need to expand their offerings to cater to more dietary restrictions in order for someone like me to rate...
Read moreCute place but each time I have visited (I've been there three times) it has been weirder and weirder. This last visit (tonight) a guy reserved a corner and started preaching to people with an agenda that clearly wasn't for everyone. There were a group of about 15-20 people who apparently knew to be there for this sermon who were gathered and completely absorbed in the message but the rest of us in the venue who were there intending to relax and either have some wine and visit with friends or there to work and have coffee were surprised to have this spectacle going on in the corner. And we had to hear it - the speaker was loud. If there are evenings dedicated to whatever they are promoting , please notify patrons before letting them come in thinking they were going to have a relaxing evening. I understand if you own a business you can do whatever you want and totally support your right to do that but, please, in the future warn people at the door who are just out to have a good relaxing experience that this is happening. It was very uncomfortable for the other patrons. that's my last visit - too bad - it had such potential. It just seems like its not really a bar or coffee shop, it feels more and more like it has an agenda that might not be for everyone. The servers have...
Read moreTo what end does a bookstore exist? I appreciate how clearly defined in perspective and vibe Beow's is as a place. I could see Beow's bringing many a good idea and conversations through its doors in the years to come.
A few notes on the space.
The location has a defined space of new books and used books. Makes it great for perusing. I'll be curious to know if they take donated books as an organization. The selection is wonderful too.
The child area I cannot praise highly enough. It's one thing to have children books available, but y'all have created a whole space not just for books to buy, but an actual play area that feels scaled well for a bookstore. As a parent, I compliment this choice.
The bathrooms are clean and one of them has a sign for a child changing station on the bathroom door. I wish every place had that much attention to detail for caring for families with young kids. You have made me a loyal patron for this fact alone.
The staff is friendly, courteous and engaging. Keep it up y'all, it creates a wonderful atmosphere.
I have yet to try the beer, but the coffee is great đđ
I'll be back soon and back frequently. So glad you have opened your doors in...
