Hmmm. Well, I heard REALLLY good things about DeMos. It's been on my Raleigh-Places-to-try list for 2yrs. Phoned in my order for pick up about 5pm Friday. Order was ready as estimated, 25min. This was not my favorite.

12in pizza + olives + mushrooms (ha, personal?!) Its bigger than "personal" for me. Its cut in 4, so if you fold a slice in half, maybe. It's not NY-soggy, so no need to fold. The ingredients are all there, toppings, cheese, sauce, dough... but its lacking a certain pizza-thing that I'm familiar with... although...does have a certain tang to the cheese that I'm not familiar with. When I opened the box and looked at it, I anticipated there would be cheddar, but it was orange grease. Dough was cooked firm on the very bottom and about 2/3 the thickness that I prefer (everyone has to decide for themselves), but nice and chewy. Folding the pizza bone makes a crisp snap. Just missing a certain quality of American pizza. (This does not approximate Italian pizza, which is fine, just for clarification.)

Garlic knots - good. I would get them again. With or without the marinara. Soft inside, cooked through. Cheese sprinkle was a good touch. Not greasy. Not burnt. Not crunchy. Good.

Cannoli - haha "vanilla". I got 2, 1x plain with choc chips, and 1x chocolate. I admit the plain one only made it to my truck before it was consumed. It was a nice dessert, but super super sweet, don't tell an Italian that it's a canola. This one would have been better as 2 small cannoli instead, so you can take a break between.

The chocolate canola was just... disappointing. Way too sweet. The chocolate flavor was a good intensity, but too much quantity for the serving size (imagine a snickers bar, made only of the exterior chocolate, but squishy) The filling was a strange texture, almost like it separated. I decide to smush it in half, squeeze out the choc, and eat the shell... but ended up just tossing it.

The restaurant has a great vibe, I want to be a fan. The guys were nice. Placing an order was easy.

So 3 stars. Clearly many, many people like this restaurant. It's not for me. If I went back, I would get garlic knots, or try something different... but I'll let others get a chance to get in and get...

Original review - 2 Stars ** Kind of disappointed. I read the reviews so I took a second to order which I had to do online through grub hub. My bill was just shy of $36 for 1 16” cheese pizza and 5 mozzarella sticks. The moz sticks were so good - I’ve never had them homemade from scratch so that was great. The pizza arrived hot, looked and smelled amazing when I opened the box. I pick up the first slice and it was so soggy the pizza ripped away from the crust and dropped back into the box. I picked up that peice and folded it and took a bite and was so soggy it was ripping into pieces. The bottom had a burnt taste and it’s so soggy it won’t stay togeather. Too hot of oven - too much sauce. I’m really disappointed... needless to say the entire pizza went in the trash and I won’t be ordering from here again. I’m honestly not a hard guy to please but for the price I should be able to pick up a slice without it falling apart like mush.

UPDATE

Within 30 min of my previous review I received a call directly from the owner who was completely sincere in wanting to make this right. This time the pizza showed up and looked/smelled just as good as the first one. First slice I picked up didn’t fall apart at all, no burnt taste and is truly cooked to perfection. I can say beyond a doubt that this pizza is probably one of the best thin crusts in Raleigh. The ingredients are definatly fresh and everything is made to order. I would highly recommmend DeMos for anyone who loves a good pie - not only because of the food but because of the top notch service as well! THANKS GUYS YOU KILLED IT! I will be back! :)

2nd Update: Its been about 30 minutes since the delivery of the re-do and the owner called just to make sure the experience was much better. Top...

While I’m not a frequent leaver of reviews, after my first visit here I felt like I couldn’t relax till I shared my experience. Today was my wife’s birthday and we headed out to a 7:30 pm movies off Glenwood. Not hungry on the way, we scrambled to game plan where to eat afterwards. Knowing she was hungry for pizza, I googled “Best pizza Raleigh” and one of the top results open late was DeMo’s. So after our movie, the wife, kids and I headed to this establishment. Due to the active nightlife in the area we almost aborted and went elsewhere due to parking but found a spot about 2 blocks away. Boy I’m glad we did. We ordered a DeMo’s Delight and a White pizza. Both were incredible. My son said it’s the best white pizza he has ever had and I’m not sure what spices they put in the sauce but it was glorious!! The staff was awesome. The guy that took my order was as friendly and positive as can be as well as other staff members. They were attentive to us both before and after eating and seemed to really care we enjoyed our experience and seemed genuinely appreciative of our patronage even though it’s obvious they aren’t hurting for customers. I will definitely be back. I work in the service industry all throughout state and in Raleigh in particular and I think next time I’m in area I will definitely be trying one of their sandwiches. I saw one being made and it was piled high with fresh Boarshead and looked heavenly. If your within 30 minutes or so and want some good pizza, you can’t go wrong. I don’t know how Mellow Mushroom up the street stays in business. Their pizza isn’t bad but the pizza and staff here are...

I loved this little deli. The food was delicious and fresh. The servings were huge. I had the SanFran, a turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich. Yum yum yum. The french fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The cannolis were fried and crispy on the outside, and creamy and cool on the inside. Worth every calorie. I didn't order the pizza, but the slices they were serving were huge, the people who ordered it at the table loved it, and there was a constant stream of people picking up pies. The calzones were enormous. It was busy, but there were lots of staff and there was no wait. The staff were super nice. It is small, but there are booths and tables, and TVs with NC sports on, and they do serve beer if you want to settle in. It got warm with the pizza oven and when it was busy, but not unpleasant. I will definitely be back.

It's the by-the-slice pizza joint every town deserves. Thin, soggy, cheesy, and massive slices of pizza served lickety split and HOT HOT HOT out of the oven. Their prices for deli cuts are just as good as the grocery store, so why go anywhere else? Service is friendly and the ambiance is timeless. Of course you can get a whole pizza too, but on your walk home from work or after a night on Glenwood's bars, there's nothing quite like a single slice and a soft drink. Speaking of which, you can expect to get North Carolina's own Pepsi products here, including Cheerwine. So give them a shot! you won't be disappointed.
