To your response: I am glad you (the owner) responded. It was not close to closing time. It was a whole hour before closing. I was told by your manager that you did not want to speak to me. I asked several times to speak to you and you refused. I was told the owner was in the building but then I seen her call you several times about the situation. You told your manager to call the police and you spoke to the police. Your manager lied and told the police that they were standing on a stool not a tray. You and your manager refused to handle the situation professionally and tried to brush me and the situation off. And if you wanted to handle the situation you would have talked to me instead of calling the police as if I was trying to run off on my tab. I wasn't asking for a free meal but for my ticket to be comped out appropriately since my wife and I wasn't comfortable getting a second plate after what we have seen. As a manager and a cook. Cleaning the vents and standing on the grill should not be done when customers are still trying to eat and enjoy the experience. I was mistreated, lied to, and had the police called on me in front of my family. That is far from making a guest feel heard and respected. Even the officer spoke on my behalf to get the ticket properly comped and you (the owner) refused.
Gobi closes at 10pm on Friday. At 9pm they decide to clean the hoods over grill by using a sheet pan to stand on the grill they cook on. Cleaner and chemicals are falling from the hood onto the grill. When I asked to speak to a manager because of this I was told they do this all the time. I was very disappointed and dissatisfied with how they handled the situation. When asked to at least comp half my meal because I was unable and I refuse to get another plate from a grill that they just semi cleaned after cleaning the hoods I was told I still had to pay in full. I have had great experiences here before but as a consumer, manager and cook I was utterly disappointed. The manager called the owner and proceeded to tell me that it's not her call to make about comps when the owner is in the building. When asked to speak to the owner they refused to come out. The manager proceeded to call me a liar and that the cook wasn't standing on the stove...
Read moreMaurice was an incredible Waiter & he's the reason I gave 2 stars. He has a great personality, and is happily willing to honestly answer any questions you may have! As far as the other staff goes, no one was particularly friendly or helpful, except for the Chinese man who makes all of the sushi. (Note: I didn't try the sushi because I'll only have sushi at a restaurant with a professionally-trained Sushi Chef.)
Your "free" appetizer will be a basket of pork rinds.
The restaurant and bathroom appeared very clean but their Dept of Health rating was 91%....
My friend seemed to enjoy her bucket with shrimp, Snow crablegs, a potato, an ear of corn, & turkey sausage. And the coleslaw was VERY good & fresh-tasting.
I tried to order King crablegs but they're only offered at lunch, and Maurice was honest when he showed me that they use melted "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" or "European-style Whipped Margarine" to dip your crablegs into.
They don't offer grilled, baked, or broiled seafood, so if you're looking for that, go elsewhere. I tried the fried scallops & catfish & they were terrible---they tasted like grease & heavy breading--the grease saturated through the breading, thus they didn't even taste like scallops or catfish. And they serve homemade tartar sauce, which tasted like Miracle Whip mixed with pickle relish.
Conclusion: I won't be returning. The prices were entirely too high for heavily-breaded greasy, tasteless scallops & catfish. If you want excellent fried catfish, go to Cracker Barrel. And, if you want great scallops, broil them yourself with real butter, or fry them at home. But, Maurice...he...
Read moreMy sister was visiting from out of town and wanted crabs. Seagate was recommended enthusiastically. We googled and became excited. She wanted crabs, and my daughter and I wanted sushi. We arrived at a sign on the door stating they were remodeling and had limited hours. No problem. We went inside, and for a remodeling project in progress, it wasn't too bad. The gentleman greeted us hesitantly as if they weren't expecting patrons to enter. We decided to do a carry out order. As we're looking over the given menu, there is no sushi listed. Thus, I inquired about the sushi menu. "We don't have sushi" and taps on a notice posted on the countertop (the same notice posted on the door). We begin to reread the notice and become confused because there is no mention of sushi in the notice. We obviously look confused, and he is becoming frustrated as he begins to explain there is no sushi and continues pointing and tapping on the notice. We were ready to leave, but he insisted on explaining the notice. "Where does it say no sushi?" He continues to explain. The lady behind the counted jumps in with a snarky comment that they don't serve sushi, and it was silly of us to think we would find sushi in that establishment. More confused faces. "Isn't this called Seagate Crab & Sushi? Never mind, I don't want anything."
Our Wegmans sushi was top tier that evening, to...
