Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant — Restaurant in Raleigh

I am new to Raleigh but I have been to a Golden Krust restaurant in Charlotte NC. I ordered a large oxtails dinner yesterday from the location in Raleigh. I called ahead of time to ask how they package it since I was getting it delivered from Uber Eats. The lady was very nice and pleasant over the phone and told me that the food is saran wrapped. I asked for extra rice and gravy bc I did not want any steamed veggies and waited for my food. The guy came with my food and when I took my food out the bag, it was packaged perfectly. No spilled juices or anything! And baaaabbbaaayyyyyyyy.. when I actually tasted the oxtails, it felt like angels were singing and the birds were chirping hallelujah! LOL.. but seriously the oxtails were perfectly seasoned... savory not sweet. I've been to places where they put sugar in the oxtails for some reason and I'm always disappointed but not this place. Not only was the oxtails amazing, but they were falling off the bone tender. And don't get me started on the fat to meat ratio! 10 out of 10! I love me a nice chunk of oxtails with a little fat every other fork full. The gravy was great, the rice and peas were great... the only thing I did not like to much was the carrot cake. The flavor of the carrot cake was great.. so I will try it again in the future for a redo... but this particular slice I got was dry. So it tasted ok, but I know it would've been off the charts if it was moist, because the flavor was there. All and all I recommend this place for oxtails and I will be ordering from them again! Absolutely loved the food and customer service!

Update: I went there in person Sunday (7/16/23). I wanted some more oxtails. It’s been a couple of weeks and I didnt want to pay extra for DoorDash or UberEats. The store was closing in about 15 mins but they still had oxtails. I got oxtails with no cabbage, double oxtails and extra gravy…plus some plantains. I got home and TORE IT UP! They are not a fluke! They have the best oxtails and you’re gonna get tender oxtails every time. Check out my other photo! Whatever you spend on their oxtails are worth it. As a customer of Golden Krust in Durham I thought hey there is one in Raleigh. I go there to get my favorite Curry Chicken with Spinach rice and plantains. First visit I was in line to pick up my food. The lady behind the counter was huffing and puffing like somebody had done something to her by just walking into the store. However, that is her problem not my problem. She needs to learn kindness, respect, and be glad people are coming in to purchase your food. So I grabbed my food and left. The second time I came there I had an order for the Fayetteville Street location and not the Plantation location. While there because it was so late they decided to back out of the transaction and fulfill the order at Plantation. While talking to the people I was saying how I was glad to find Golden Krust in Raleigh like the one in Durham. This guy and the same huffing and puffing lady from previously decided they getting ready to school me by saying this one isn't like the one in Durham. I didn't ask Ms.Puffy Alot nor Mr. Uppity Hingeforth to tell me anything because after getting dinner from you guys on 5.30.2024 I found that Durham's Golden Krust is way better than Plantation on any day. When I arrived it seemed like I was waiting to be called on I told the guy my name and he had then asked me to see the receipt that I placed an order online. I go to the car and get my phone and driver's license for him to see my name. I showed him my information so I could get my food. I will say the food was horrible. The cabbage was old and spoiled, the chicken had a funny taste and the plantains were dry as hell. I spent all night until early morning on the toilet. This is the very last time I will come to that location and will make sure to tell everyone I know not to eat there because of my experience with their rude people and horrible food. I'd have to say, I used to love Golden Krust and would recommend to all my friends in Raleigh. Today the level of disrespect I received was mind blowing. I was in the works to spending well over $50 when the older gentleman preparing my food was so rude. I asked him about 2 specific items Curry shrimp and spinach which I'm used to seeing on the buffet. This man look at me as if I spoke gibberish and ignored my question! I had to make sure I was speaking clear and I repeated my question. This man looked at me in disgust and said MAM ITS MADE TO ORDER. Speaking in an annoyed tone as if I should have already known. I was flabbergasted and stood there in disbelief. He continued to look at me in a staring stuck expression. I thought it was something wrong. I asked the cashier was everything ok with him and she said, " um yes". She was dismissive when I told her how I felt and she pushed it off as it was a miscommunication.
