I came to this restaurant at 11:15pm on a Saturday night after a long day of work, wanting to try Greek food for the first time. I walk in and after a minute or 2 glossing over the menu, I chose to order the fries platter with steak. Not a bad order, right? The guy working the counter says they don’t have steak, I tell him it’s all good and get the ground beef, all is good. I get it to-go without a receipt and head home, thinking life was good. I open my bag, to a platter full of rice. Not a fry in sight. I have a single kebab/strip of meat instead of the double portion I see on every other picture in these reviews. A lonely, sad, kebab, with a few pieces of pita bread and a whole takeaway box full of dry rice I didn’t ask for. And a drink. For $14 dollars total. Granted, I ate the food immediately and it was pretty good apart from the rice. I would come back here if I got the portions I paid for. Looking at other reviews, I got less than what others did while paying the same price. Did I offend you, person who took my order if you’re reading this? I’m sorry if I did something uncouth or if I was quiet because I was tired but I didn’t mean to be rude. But I don’t see how I am deserving of poor service for this. My night is ruined, and I’m typing here still awake because my stomach is still turning even though I paid for $14 of what I thought would be a quality meal experience. To the students of NC State university, I beg you to find another Greek establishment to satisfy your needs, as if the staff perceive any slight, they will not hesitate to give you pitiful service. Visit a Turkish restaurant instead if you want to support an immigrant community that cares about good food AND customer service. If the restaurant is reading this, I am more sad than angry as I genuinely enjoyed the food I did get, but it was not nearly enough and I got less than what I paid for. You can tell I enjoyed it as I was ravenously hungry when I ate it since there is no kebab or pita left, only the rice I did not ask for.
I hope you change your ways, Grk Yeero, so that I may be the last person wronged by your dining...
Read moreHeaded to Hillsborough for a NY Slice and ended up at Greek Yeero - pleasantly surprised and stoked for a gyro joint.
Oddly, the gyro comes with a garlic sauce, not tzatziki, which is not atypical to other gyro spots I’ve been to, but you can substitute.
I ordered the chicken yeero which is described as thinly sliced chicken, as you would picture it being trimmed off a spit, but what it actually was was diced/cubed chunks of chicken, almost entirely dark meat and absolutely no flavor to it; would not order again.
The pita bread was very good, the tzatziki was ok but I’m eager to try the garlic sauce next time, and I’ll opt for the falafel or a plate instead. The fries were very good (finally, a place that doesn’t use battered fries!) plus the seasoning salt on it was perfect, reminded me of my favorite pizza place from New England.
They’ve only been open a few days, looking forward to...
Read moreI was a little hesitant to try this place because there wasn't anybody inside when I entered at 3pm on a Friday, but my worries were totally unfounded.
I had a small beef & lamb yeero + fries and a drink. The lady behind the counter was SUPER nice and friendly, and the yeero was delicious (and clearly made with love). The small was perfectly lunch sized, and you get so many fries with the combo that it's hard to feel hungry afterwards.
After finishing my yeero, I decided to try the stuffed grape leaves and they are GOOD. They have a subtle spice that builds as you eat--I didn't realize how spicy it was until I had already eaten two of them. Interesting flavor (although I do wish they were a little less expensive, all of the sides are ~$7 which is a little high for the area.)
Still, I like these grape leaves better than the new Mediterranean place in the...
