Free Expression Tunnel — Local services in Raleigh

The Free X-Tunnel is the Birthplace of the Cypher Univercity movement, which began in February of 2010 with the 1100 Hunters and God Cipher Divine, word spread like wildfire and a tradition was born. Every monday night since then, Emcees travel far and wide to Master the ancient Ceremony of "Cypher! Cypher!"

In 2012, the Cypher became a movement that spread to university campuses across NC: Central, ECU, APP, UNCC, A&T, UNC, UNCA. A World Record was broken and a film about the Cypher was premiered at Cannes Film festival. A force to be reckoned with, all emerging from the Spirit of the Free Expression...

I love the concept of this attraction, but being located on a university campus should clue you in on whether or not TRUE freedom of expression is allowed. If not, the commemorative plaque at the entrance will make sure you know that you're free only to express things that the university allows. The fact that speech may offend others, and make the offended party want the speech removed/banned is the ONLY reason that speech is protected. Do we need to protect the right to make people happy? Of course not.

Either way, it's art....

You are free to express yourself with spray paint within the confined of the tunnel. This tunnel has 40 or more years of paint on the walls, ground and ceiling.
