Customer service was absolutely TERRIBLE!!! I placed an order to go (wrong order) and paid around 7pm. As I was waiting, I went to get avocado salsa, there was none. I asked the young kid Marcelo with curly hair for more. Clearly he was new and he was trying to help so he asked his co-workers for help. As he was asking his co workers for help ( one was red head and other one was dark hair both young guys) in front register, told Mercelo; “The new guy in the morning was suppose to do all restocks and put extras in the front, just don’t worry about it.” So Marcelo came to tell me there no more. ( I clearly heard the whole conversation) I asked to speak with the manger and Marcelo said there is no manager at the moment. Which I think that completely unprofessional and weird that their no manager helping to run the restaurant. So I continue to patiently wait for my food. I got my food and left to my car to check my order. Wrong order, I got a sopa del carne, when I asked for surf and turf. As I walked back in not even a minute later; I see Marcelo bring out more avocado salsa. Which completely was so utterly disappointed, as a paying customer and waited patiently for my food. As I went and ask Marcelo (who took my order) that I asked for surf and turf not a sopa del carne; he proceeds to tell me that not what I said at all. Instead of apologizing and correcting it. Which I would have been more then happy to pay the difference and left but instead I went to the two guys (red hair and dark hair young guys taking order at the time) that my order was wrong. They threw the young man mercelo under the bus by saying he was new and doesn’t know what he doing, instead of trying to help him and fix it. Then also then tells me they been busy taking customers order and didn’t have time when I was sitting for my food for at least 15 mins and only one other person besides me was there at the moment. The dark hair guy tried to help by paying the difference but as more time kept passing while he was trying to figure it out, I ask for the manager again. The dark hair young man tells me they is not in and doesn’t know when they coming in so I need to leave my name and number and they will reach out. I politely decline and ask for my money back. Completely unprofessional and restaurant is run by kids not properly train in the business and customer service. I was a huge fan from the beginning when it was just the food truck before even the restaurant came about. I was so happy for the family that made it big in the restaurant business to be being disappointed cause their customer service is not kept up and run by kids who...
Read moreI use to like Gym Tacos but this location the staff is horrible & no one speaks English. They are over priced and absolutely DO NOT give you your monies worth for the food cost. A steak & chicken taco is $7.50 and you only getting onion & cilantro. The steak & chicken is cut in 1/2 cm pieces so little you think you are eating crumbs that fell from your taco.....naw, it's the meat they put in your taco. Anything else you add to your taco is .25cent per taco. Totally ridiculous in price and I won't ever be going back there again, until they give at least lettuce & some cheese. The menu board is congested & horrible to read. They barely want to give you cups for sauces....just a very cheap business that want to overly tax the customers. I ordered fries and said no seasoning & fries were overly cooked and straight salty...That's a sure language barrier problem and also who cooks fries so crunchy like POTATO STICKS. The meat is also SALTY!!! GYM has gone downhill at this location & it's always hot inside the dining room.
It's best to get your Mexican foods from the street trucks, they are cheaper & food is better than what Gym Tacos on Hillsborough Street...
Read moreI have loved Gym Tacos for many years but was really disappointed last night. I ordered a burrito with no meat, which I have ordered countless times, and on this occasion it had some kind of white-meat-looking stuff in it which it doesn't usually come with. I am a lifelong vegetarian so could not taste it to figure out what it was, as it would make me ill if it was meat. We called to inquire and the staff weren't sure whether it was meat or potentially mushrooms. They couldn't confirm whether the restaurant has mushrooms or if that's something that is now included in the veg burrito. An order mixup is one thing, but not being able to provide ingredients lists for dishes makes me concerned about potential allergen safety. Incidentally, another vegetarian friend last week told me about having a similar issue with her Gym Tacos veg burrito-- it included a rogue piece of white-meat-looking-stuff, but a small enough quantity that it looked like an accident. Not sure what is going on but I am disappointed given how many years of great vegetarian burritos I've had there. We're grateful for the refund but not sure we will...
