Let me begin by saying that the food is very good. If you enjoy Lebanese, Middle Eastern or Mediterranean cuisine, then you will enjoy the food here. Having said that, Neomonde is far from without it's flaws, some of which are quite large. In fact, although we have been customers of Neomonde since we moved to the area 6 years ago, we are unlikely to return. Here's why:
-First, the food is expensive for what you're receiving. We spent over $80 on our last take-out order and it was enough food for two people, with no left overs except for 2 pitas.
-To make the expense even worse, every container we purchased we weighed upon arriving at home. We used a calibrated kitchen scale which is very accurate. Every container weighed less than what was purchased. For example, the "16 ounce" container of beet salad weighed 14.26 ounces. The 16 ounce container of hummus weighed in at 15.04 ounces. The 16 ounce mjedara rice was a paltry 13.91 ounces. We purchased other items as well, but you get the idea.
-On a previous visit, my wife purchased some special drink, I think it had hibiscus or lavender and was some type of lemonade, although I may be mistaken. As we have a 30 minute drive home with our take-out, my wife requested no ice so it wouldn't be watery by the time we arrived home. The young man assisting her proceeds to hand her a cup barely 2/3 full. My wife sees this, asks him, "Could you fill the cup, please?" to which he replies, verbatim, "We factor in the ice with the cost".
-Finally, the staff can be a bit rude at times. It isn't every one, but overwhelmingly, I have never felt welcomed or comfortable there.
That about sums it up for our Neomonde experiences. Again, the food has always been good and generally consistent, but for us, there are just too many other options that offer better prices, know how to treat customers as valuable as opposed to an inconvenience and actually provide you with the amount of food that you paid for.
UPDATE: In response to the owner's comments whereby it was questioned how I was able to get lemonade when it hasn't been offered in over a year: please read in the review where I clearly stated "On a previous visit..." as it pertains to the drink in question. Additionally, it shows the shortcomings of Neomonde's management that this is the only aspect of my review that was addressed. Potential customers please consider yourselves warned should you...
Read moreHello everyone! I have tried many Mediterranean restaurants and this has been far worst than the others. I don't mean to be harsh. I only say facts as all that follow my posts. The Mediterranean restaurants in Illinois, North Carolina and New York are the worst so far. Michigan has been on the #1 list of good Mediterranean food. Let me start with what the owner posted as a description of the restaurant."Great Mediterranean food inspired by authentic Lebanese recipes" anyone who has tried authentic Lebanese food, will let the owner know to take down the word Lebanese because every dish presented in the restaurant has nothing to do with Lebanese authentic food recipes. Go to Michigan if you want Lebanese authentic food. For example, the grape leaves I ordered are stuffed with only tomatoes, parsley, lemon and green peppers( Greek style). The authentic Lebanese recipe for grape leaves is the following: mixture of rice, beef or lamb, onions, garlic, lemon, cinnamon, parsley and dried mint(everything is chopped into small pieces). For a veggie option, only the meat option will be replaced with chopped carrots. Afterwards you spread them on the grape leaves, roll them and then tie them in a stack with other rolled grape leaves. Afterwards, put them in a pot and boil them with tomatoes and the 7 spices. The grape leaves need to be soft. The size of them is bigger than what they sell at this restaurant and because they want to make a bigger profit out if you, since they think you guys can be easily fooled and don't know what Mediterranean authentic food is in general, they've been making them small and only provide with 2 pieces which is non sense. There are other items on the menu I ordered. Another one is one of there Manousheh. "The Lahem B'ahjeen" It was the worst taste and quality I've ever experienced. The dough was super dry. It shouldn't be dry. It should be soft and juicy. The ingredients should be more. They added spices more than the major ingredients. So far the Prince's Bakery in Michigan is the only bakery that makes all the Lebanese authentic Manousheh. This restaurant focuses on how food is presented without quality. Answer this question, what is a good atmosphere...
