I've been to this place maybe 3 times now. Every time, there weren't very many people here. I'm not actually sure how they are able to stay open. But today I went to meet some friends here. I walked to the bar downstairs, and it was full. I waited for an opportunity to order a drink. There were 2 bartenders a heavy set girl and a skinny girl, both white. The skinny girl took the order of the guy to my right. After taking his order, she went all the way to the right side of the bar and took another guy's order. I didn't think anything of it. The bar starts clearing out a bit. There's plenty of space now. I'm just waiting. The heavy set girl is taking people's orders to my left. I do notice that she is taking the order of new people who have walked up after me. Some grabbed their order almost immediately after they walked up. All of them are white. I've been waiting some time now. A random white guy walks up and stands to my right. We start having a convo about costumes. The skinny bartender comes back and asks him for his order. He tells her I'm next because I've been standing there longer than him. The girl looks at me and immediately walks off and takes another white guy's order. The guy and I look at each other, and he says to me that was weird. That's was really weird. I hope it's not what it seems like, but I can't think of any other reason she would do that. He apologized to me and said that it was weird several more times. He then says I don't want to order from her, and he moves to my left. He offers to buy my drink because of the experience. I say no. Ultimately, he doesn't allow me to pay for my drink. Shortly after he moves to my left, the heavy set girl asks him for his order. At this point is when I actually noticed the race of everyone they took orders from were all white. Around the time this guy came to the bar, there really weren't very many people at the bar, and both bartenders were intentionally not taking my order. myself and a stranger think the reason is because I'm black. The guy ended up buying my drink because of this. That said, I'm going to try to avoid this place going forward, and if I do happen to walk in here, I'll never spend...
Read moreWe've been meaning to check this place out for years and finally stopped by. It's a cool neighborhood dive bar that was playing the big football game on a Sunday. One of the bartenders (or owner, but I don't know for sure) made wings and some vegetarian chili to share with anyone who wanted some while they watched the game.
While they didn't have any gluten free or gluten reduced beer for me (I would've given them 5 stars if they had), they did have a fairly decent selection of ciders and seltzer. I opted for a Tanqueray and Tonic, since I haven't had one in awhile, and it was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpfu,l since we'd never been there before, and the environment felt very welcoming.
They did have a pool table and small arcade game, but we didn't want to disturb everyone watching the game, so we'll go back another time for that. They also have a really big upstairs patio with extra bar and a windy slide you can go down when the weather is nice. Overall, pretty cool spot, especially if you...
Read moreAvoid this business. Staff is confrontational and rude. Our party was asked to leave after one staff member argued with one member of our party. The person in our party asked to leave did leave and went out and was waiting for everyone else to be rounded up. The staff member who was so argumentative came downstairs yelling at staff member at entrance and pointing to our friend “do not let him back in” (our friend who was already outside on sidewalk and NOT trying to re enter was only waiting for all our party) Staff member from upstairs then started yelling at our other friend who was only trying to get everyone from our large group gathered so we could leave. We had 14 people all over the bar-upstairs, inside, outside. Most did not know event had occurred so needed to be informed so we could leave. We were literally leaving and they started yelling at us again. Good grief!!! Just let us leave already and trust me we...
