I hate to leave a bad a review especially on a local business but this needs to be said. Honestly I was so excited to try this restaurant for the first time but I’m extremely disappointed. I ordered their double smash burger, a side of fries, the hot chicken sandwich combo with mozzarella sticks and fries, Oreo cheesecake and 2 diet cokes. I placed the order online via doordash (it was pickup) & When I went to pick it up, they were out of the cheesecake I ordered which is fine but they wouldn’t refund me. They said I needed to reach out to doordash for a refund and when I reached out to doordash they said I needed to reach out to the restaurant for a refund. So now I’m annoyed because I essentially gave a $7 donation. (The cheesecake is the main reason I decided to come opposed to another restaurant) Then I looked at the bag and I had asked for diet cokes but they put regular dr. Pepper instead. (im honestly not sure how they mixed that up the cans are 2 different colors. Diet Coke is silver and Dr Pepper is red.) when i went home to eat, opened the bag to see that the fries were missing. I had a side of fries with my combo meal and I ordered a separate side of fries, neither of which were in the bag. The burger was super chewy and missing ingredients (the sauce, pickles, and the onions were missing so it was just the patty and cheese, I also specifically asked for extra aioli. Pretty sure they ignored all my notes which sucks because they don’t have an option to order specific things on doordash, they have to check the notes for everything) , mozzarella sticks were nasty and dry. I didn’t even bother eating the chicken sandwich I was so turned off. I specifically asked the employee if there was ranch and marinara sauce in the bags and he said yes, of course I get home and neither are in the bag. Luckily right before I walked out he stopped me to give me some extra ranch “just in case” it wasn’t in there but still had no marinara sauce which sucked. Just overall a very disappointing experience. I’m hoping I just caught them on a bad day but I definitely won’t waste my money there again. $45 completely down the drain. Worst part is that the employee didn’t seem to care at all he had a very “whatever” attitude about it. I love a good burger place and TikTok said it was one of the best in Raleigh but I was...
Read moreWell, it's unacceptable... that this place is any less than a full 5 stars on Google. Few exist as special as those behind this godsend of a restaurant on Raleigh's Hillsborough St. Staying open past 10pm? What a novel concept! But gosh, that's just some convenient cherry on the tippy top of what this beautiful little restaurant is.
Their menu is not going to throw you for a loop. It's simple, and if you're smart, the meat & bite special is a simple, smart choice. You get two entree items and a side of fries for a, needless to say, very reasonable price. But like the kind of price you pay for one entree combo for and the two entree items are of a standard that is great.
You can tell there is a certain quality that has been applied to the ingredient acquisition across the board, especially for their star items, the hot chicken sandwich and the smashed cheeseburger. Which in not saying you have to go for, they just rock and you really oughta.
The cooks produce the food items to such a high quality, you'd brag about it to all your friends if it was a cousin at your family cookout. They've been taught well and are given the tools and environment to do it well.
This is the doings of a talented team, but clearly also with someone at the helm who is passionate about their craft and is willing to institute that standard well.
After everything that's happened lately, fast food/fast casual food quality has gone so downhill, and prices for grabbing food in the restaurant industry, no matter how fasy, has skyrocketed here in the Triangle. Meat & Bite offers such a profound counter to what I find to be an (and I mean this with full respect to all out there) otherwise bland and unforgiving restaurant market in the Triangle.
Frankly, Meat & Bite is an excellent choice in fast casual dining that has left me happy every single darn time. I wish them nothing but happiness cause they sure have instilled such in...
Read moreOn a busy road close to the university, but got a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. A strange random man sitting on one of the tables outside with a loud speaker playing some music, I wish it was the Quran instead.
Anyway, I was greeted by a nice dude who pointed to the menu on the wall. Ordered the combo of smash burger and wings, asked the cashier for recommendation on the sauce and he claimed the honey chipotle was his favorite. Drinks included so just grabbed a bottle of water to quench the thirst of mine on that warm humid Raleigh weather.
I was in a hurry to catch a flight and the food was served 5 mins later, impressed at the speed. First glance, quite a handful - a burger, fries and 6 wings, worth the value for 18 buckeroos.
First bite on the burger, mashaAllah really nice char on the outside but still juicy on the inside. I was impressed, to be honest I wished I ordered the double smash burger, that was how good it was! Wings were great and the honey chipotle hit the spot with sweet and spicy notes. Fries was fries but hey can't go wrong with fries.
A man standing close to the cashier seemed friendly handing me the tray of my food and also directing me to the extra aioli sauce to dip my fries. I think is the owner but couldn't strike a conversation because I was in a hurry.
Anyway, restroom is clean, and was pleasantly surprised that a prayer area was available which is like an oasis for a traveler like me.
Overall, great HALAL establishment with high quality smash burgers which I will happily visit again if I am back in NC for work....
