True story.
Tony and I were at Mike's Pizza today. Mike's Pizza has very limited drinks so I always get water. Normally, I have a "shaker" in my purse to flavor my drink because they don't offer unsweetened tea. The flavor of choice today was fruit punch. I used part of the "shaker" and drank it. When Tony McDougal went to refill my water, Mike started yelling at him "you cannot put drink in this cup sir ". Tony assured him that he had water. Of course Mike did not believe him. I walked towards the counter showing Mike the remainder of the "shaker ". He felt stupid and said "you cannot do here. It's not me. It's the health department " (we have eaten there NUMEROUS times and I've done the same thing!) As I return to my seat, I thought about it. Mike had accused us of stealing. I returned to the counter and told Mike that I had any number of payment methods in my purse and could pay for anything I wanted. I work everyday and have no need to steal. Mike still offered no apology (though his workers did) and tried to justify his actions to Tony. He claimed he meant that we couldn't have outside drink. Tony said, "that's not what you said Mike. You first said several times that I had something other than water." Mike went on to tell us that he was from Africa (like that was some excuse for his accusations of theft).
This is as bad as someone walking behind me in the store when there is no need to.... Needless to say.... That will be my last time at Mike's Pizza. I don't have to spend my money and be accused of stealing! And for the record, I use "shakers" in water most of the time when we eat out. No person at any restaurant has EVER told me that the health...
Read moreThis is a gem my wife and I stumbled upon. This place is a fantastic one-of-a-kind pizza place where they make the pizza where you can see it up at the counter and make it to order. I've never even had the opportunity to have my whole pizza as stuffed with meat so I took it. The pizza is absolutely delicious and is at a reasonable cost. Unless you have a humongous appetite or a lot of people to feed, a small pizza is just fine. I got the medium and it took me hours and a take-home box to finish it. I received great service and all of the employees made sure to check on us and ensure everything was okay. They have a fountain drink machine and have some condiments at the tables. There is plenty of parking outside. The only gripe you can really make is that it's next to some run-down club and I found broken glass all over the parking lot. That's at no fault of the restaurant. Times can be hard. You lease where you lease.
Great service, great food, reasonable pricing, and easy to access. Its a shame there isn't more of these. Definitely will return when in the Raleigh area.
Reading other reviews, I hate it when people criticize a restaurant because it's not the same as another area or based off a technicality. If you seriously are going to trash a restaurant because it's not authentic "New York" style and you would know because you're from New York, or it's not as good as Oregon, you should consider eliminating your biases and reviewing the restaurant for your experience at that restaurant and that restaurant's food and...
Read moreI've been to a lot of restaurants lately, And deeply impressed. This is my next five-star review out of three in the past several days. I'm definitely struck some gold in Raleigh, And this place is absolutely no exception.
I was mindlessly searching around for a restaurant as I typically do with my 8-year-old daughter. We found this place on a whim, given that a lot of the restaurants in the area either weren't appropriate or only accepted cash.
This pizza place is one of those hidden places that amazes you. We got the full size large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese and a water and a diet Pepsi.
My daughter does not overfill herself by nature. You'll be hard to find her going above and beyond to make herself stuffed. This was one of the acceptance. This pizza was so good, that clearly goes above and beyond other New York style pieces I've had at other so-called holes in the wall.
The staff was incredibly friendly and it also seemed to be privately and family run. There's a certain charm to a family run restaurant of any sort, but to see everyone in good spirits and taking the craft seriously is just fantastic.
My daughter and I hung out and we split that pizza down the middle in half which is rare for either of us to finish. This is the best New York style pizza that I have had in a very long time.
Five stars on a 100% recommend that you go grab yourself a pizza and say hi to the staff and thank them for how amazing...
