UPDATE: I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK Original review “ Ordered food using the Too good to go app, staff was friendly and even threw in extra food!” my original review was not honest due to pressure from staff so I have edited with my true opinion now that I am back home.
I ordered food using the Too good to go app, I had previously ordered from here for the Mildad Indian Cuisine restaurant. The food I got last time was ok but it was really just a big container of rice so it’s hard to mess that up. I was a little taken back by how much the restaurant didn’t look like the pictures online but wasn’t inside long enough to notice anything unsanitary. Later on I saw they also ran Tikka Taco from the same location? I decided to give them another try, and I wish I hadn’t. First off according to the app the food was ready to be picked up anywhere between 5:30-10:30. I showed up around 8pm and still had to wait 10 minutes. Staff told me I could take a seat and wait inside. My instincts told me to go wait in my car where I’d be more comfortable since it was going to be a longer wait and I wish I had listened to my instinct. As I sat down and waited I instantly regretted coming here when I had to start swatting flies away that were flying around in my face. Then the cashier came and stood by me to let me know he was going to be putting extra food in my order. I thanked him because I thought he was just being nice or maybe they had more food leftover at the end of the night than they thought. NOPE, the cashier then asked me to write a Google review for them. I agreed thinking he meant AFTER I had tried my food later and could actually have a fully formed opinion for a review. NOPE, he stood over me and had me pull up their google page and write the review on the spot! It was very uncomfortable for me to be pressured into writing a review.
After the cashier walked away I started looking deeper into their other reviews and saw similar complaints of unsanitary conditions, the pictures on the website not matching the current state of the restaurant, the food not being good quality, and a low sanitation score (88/100). I didn’t feel comfortable eating the food I paid for and ended up throwing it out before I got home. Too good to go is an app that allows you to buy unsold food at a discounted rate so I’m glad I didn’t have to pay full price and will just have to be fine with the money I did waste.
In the future I suggest the owner(s) work to improve cleanliness and the quality of their food rather than using offering free food as a trick to then ask and pressure for an on the spot positive review. I don’t like to talk bad on anyone’s business or risk future earnings for people trying to make a living but I also don’t like being pressured and don’t want others to have the...
Read more1/5 stars - Disappointing Experience with Tikka Taco
I recently ordered chicken biryani from Tikka Taco, but my experience was marred by poor communication and customer service.
After receiving an email confirmation to pick up my order between 3:55-4:00 PM, I arrived to find the restaurant closed. Despite trying to call, no one answered. To my surprise, I received a text notification at 4:45 PM stating my food was ready.
Upon calling back, I was told they were away for namaz and I could pick up the food. When I asked for a refund due to the inconvenience, the staff responded carelessly, citing their prayer break.
To add insult, I was told the refund would take 4-5 days, requiring consultation with their finance team.
Unacceptable communication, unreliable service, and a lack of empathy for customers' time. Until they improve their operations and customer service, I'd advise others to think twice before ordering from Tikka Taco.
Issues:
Incorrect pickup timing Unavailability during confirmed pickup window Poor communication Careless customer service Delayed refund process

Read moreAfter going here about 3 times (because of convenience and usually quick service), I will opt to purchase Indian food from the other 2-3 restaurants that line Hillsborough Street. Today I purposed samosas and a few other things. After receiving my to-go order and asking for tamarind chutney, the cashier promised me that “it was in the bag.” Upon returning to my car, something told me to check my sealed and stapled bag, and I did. It was not in the bag, and I returned inside the store. He cashier then told me they were sold out(which doesn’t make sense because they aren’t frequented that much) … so why initially lie..? Further, when I arrived home to enjoy my goat curry, it was nothing in the curry but bones. Unfortunately , I will not be returning even though the food is hot and fresh but what’s the point when you can’t really enjoy what...
