We visited the Rancho Mirage location today (09/18/25) and were excited to see the Southern Fried Chicken (bowl) and the Chicken Biscuits and gravy (bites) items on the menu. Being a Southern girl myself, this is highly exciting. However this visit was far from exciting.... It's seems like managers and servers are confused about the menu, the gravy subject in particular. Perhaps training would help to make the customers dining experience more joyful. To give you history, we use to come to this location after it's grand opening and went there for years. It started declining about 8 years ago, so we stopped coming about 5 years ago. 3 months ago we decided to try it again, hoping for new improvements and changes under new management. The experience was amazing. So we came back again today. What a weird experience, that has now set us on a path to stay away again. We had Luke as our young inexperienced waiter. It was fine until he saw us taking photos and having a conversation. He interrupted us to ask what we were doing. So I told him we were trying to understand the gravy situation. Out of three representatives from the restaurant, they each came to our table giving us a different description of the gravy. Luke said brown gravy, one male manage said mushroom gravy, the third one, Lindsay another manager said it was a certain kind of odd sauce. I don't remember what she called it. Now I don't know who made the gravy/sauce selection, but we were also told that is the ONLY gravy they have. They do not have white country gravy. So then what gravy do you use for biscuits and gravy?? The photos look white. Why would you use mushroom gravy for that? The Southern Fried Chicken Bowl was awful according to my husband. He eats anything, well almost anything. He usually licks the plate clean. Not on this day. He ate less than half. Lindsay was told this and she saw it. It was not taken off the bill. I want to further add that the menu for both these items DOES NOT LIST THE GRAVY/ SAUCE INFORMATION. The menu should reflect the kind of gravy or sauce used. Mushroom gravy is used for Salisbury steak so when he said that, I was shocked. This is chicken. I explained to Lindsay that Luke did not appear experienced in answering any questions that we had and then got upset with me for asking questions that he could not answer. He interrupted my conversation with my husband and then got upset because he was feeling 'overwhelmed'. He asked me why I was being stand-offish??? Not sure that was the correct question, maybe inquisitive?? There is nothing wrong with a customer asking about ingredients or menu options. Not sure this is the job for him. I discussed this with Lindsay too. Our visits there and the menu has really gone downhill. The chicken wings were the size of a very small bird, like kid sized wings and the ranch dip was a tiny container fit for three wings only. Or celery sticks were way longer than the chicken wings. We won't be returning. I wanted to share so you could hear our views on your restaurant. Thank you.
Old review.... Well I have to say I'm so very impressed. My husband and I have not been here for at least 3 years due to poor food, however my husband convinced me to try it again. To our surprise the food was fresh, tasty, and amazing. The chicken was not dry. We had the buffalo wings, Chinese chicken salad, and chicken salad sandwich. I was so impressed that we called Nick over to talk to the manager on duty. It all comes down to a few things: Great management, great chef, delicious food, and a nice waiter. Thanks to the new San Diego lady in charge!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and we had the worst day possible. So nice to add this restaurant to our list of rare...
Read moreThis location, and cheesecake factory as a whole, has long been a favorite, especially to my wife. However, this last visit and the visit before were quite disappointing. My prior visit to this one was back in January with our in-laws from Canada, who had never eaten there before and were excited to do so. Service was slow and the food was subpar. We were also seated in a very interesting location. I marked it up as a fluke, as I had never had a bad experience before at this location. Last evening, the 20th of August, we came with my parents for their anniversary. to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I had spaghetti carbonara, which is a dish i frequent here. The chicken was that of a frozen food bag I assume was probably purchased at Walmart because whoever is in charge of ordering food either forgot to order or couldn’t be bothered to order the right amount of food when needed. I mean, come on guys frozen microwaved chicken… Again a dish I have had it many times and have enjoyed thoroughly rendered absolutely disgusting. It didn’t even have fake grill marks , not to mention, I could tell the peas amongst whatever the hell else was in there, was not standard cheesecake, factory order variety, The fact you had the audacity to charge full price for that is comical. My poor mother ordered the shrimp scampi. Not only were foreign objects in her plate, she became ill not long after leaving, food poisoning. I am not sure where that shrimp came from, but it was not freshly cooked and it was covered in some kind of unknown substance. Several of our party had ordered certain things that the waitress came back and said aren’t available because we ran out. How is it that you run out of bread crumbs for fried chicken? No I would assume not the case and the fact is you didn’t have fresh chicken on hand that wasn’t already cubed and microwavable so you were unable to make said dishes. Half of our appetizers weren’t available and the ones that did come out were colder than my iced tea which was not so iced. The ground and surrounding area was dirty, as well as the cutlery. And although I rarely ever complain about the atmosphere because again it’s not exactly like we’re going to Wallys, you don’t go to cheesecake factory for the ambience, but we were seated in such a way that we were basically stacked on top of each other when there was several other rows available(it’s August in the desert, you aren’t busy), where we didn’t have to be seated next to the loudest party that obviously overstayed their welcome. Just a cherry on top. Typically, I would have said my peace whilst there not a hopes that you would take care of things, but at least give viable feedback that we would hope would be welcomed. Instead I’ve decided to write a well deserved review about how downhill this place has truly become. Not sure if things have just been a little shaky because of the season, as I said back in January, I wasn’t too happy either this time was far worse though and I would have rather eaten at a fast food establishment, heck I would have taken the movie theater concession stand before the meal I had, truly. I was so disappointed and appalled that I left without even ordering dessert, which is something we always do at the Cheesecake Factory. Still gave the waitress a very nice tip. Well over 20% even though the service was subpar at best. But I did not say a single word about the food or the service. $200+ not spent well. I will try once more, perhaps when season begins, but I do hope that this is an isolated incident for the time being and that the service, food and experience will return to what it once was so that we can go on enjoying cheesecake factory, as we always have. Read moreWe made a reservation for a party of 6 for my daughters’ birthday. We were seated at about 7:10 pm. I do not know the server’s name but he was an older man. Took our drink orders and said I’ll be back and did not return. I flagged down the manager and SHE took out dinner order after about waiting 15 for the non-returning server. As we were very hungry, we then later asked our server for more bread. Server had many conversations with two nearby tables but was extremely inattentive to us. After about another 20 minutes of him not returning with more bread, I approached the manager who was at the hostess stand to tell her we were very dissatisfied. She said she’d change our server which would “change our experience” Her name I believe was Paulina. I do not know the original server’s name. She told us our food would be out shortly. We ordered the meals at least 30 minutes prior. Our new server was very polite—a young man whose name I don’t remember (possibly Nick?) but in no way does this review reflect on him. He was put into a situation at the last minute to try to salvage it and none of this was his fault. After another 20 minutes or so of no food and our growing frustration, we decided that we were all very upset, felt ignored by our server, the manager should have checked on our table after SHE had to take our order, she did not offer us anything other than changing our server at the ninth hour, but our meal and birthday celebration was already ruined. After over one hour and ten minutes of this, the six of us got up to leave, and we did inform our new server who was very understanding and apologetic. I want to stress this had nothing to do with him and we even spoke afterwards and said had he been our server originally, our experience would have likely been great. In a tough economy, when a family decides to go out to enjoy a birthday meal where the bill will no doubt be $200-$300, you want to at least feel seen and appreciated and enjoy your time together. This did not happen. We were all left sitting with no refills of drinks or bread and no meals and no contact from our original server as he made sure to socialize with other tables around us. Both of my daughters (whose birthday we were trying to celebrate) are bartenders so they were really disappointed as they never treat customers this way. Tonight we are going to try to have their birthday dinner again at Outback, as everyone was feeling pretty down and extremely disappointed after our experience at Cheesecake Factory. And if you are going to reply to this review, please don’t send a generic apology about bringing any issues to the manager’s attention “next time” as we did do that—twice—and nothing was...
