It's a delivery place, not a dine-in place. Only the dough and some wing sauces are made in-house. Everything else is out of a bag or can, similar to most large chains. I was expecting more local hand crafting based on carving out a market niche, but that wasn't the case. Care and attention to detail was below the bar that I expected, knowing what the team can do.
I challenge the owner to engage and support the team fully. Bathroom was out of TP but luckily the backup rolls were on a shelf outside the bathroom. I reloaded it myself because only one person was working the counter, phones, and cooking. I understand that when you are open till 3am and handling drunks, you don't want to overstaff, but the prices reflect a higher tier of service. No staff knew the wifi password. Is it that hard to post it on the wall behind the cash drawer? When I alerted staff that the dining area was out of napkins, there was no response. I guess I should have restocked those myself too?
A sustainable business model can't give Little Ceasar's spartan vibes and charge double. I understand the big corporations have efficiencies of scale, but to differentiate from them, high quality, attention to detail, personal connection, local touch, and passion make the difference. Don't be the "open super late pizza place for night-time owls" and expect that to carry you.
Wings needed to be crispier. A few minutes in an air fryer would be the finishing touch.
Dough was dense and a hearty multigrain vibe. I recommend ordering the pizza "well done." It will likely end up medium well, but you don't want dense mushy multigrain dough. Well done won't be burnt. The style is unique. This isn't New York slice, Chicago tavern bar pie, New Haven charcoal, Neopolitan, deep dish, or anything you've had. You'll try it once and decide for yourself.
The sauce is good, but like almost everything it came from a can or jar. They picked a solid sauce.
The best thing on the menu is the sandwiches. (I didn't try the broasted chicken, so its possible the pressure fried broasted chicken could beat the sandwiches.) I'd pick up the Chicken Bacon Ranch and the Founding Father sandwiches which in my opinion are the best items with the most personal attention and care.
I also got a side salad to try it for the review, and get some fiber in with all the meat, cheese, and carbs. It was unmemorable. I didn't get any other sides because all of them were coming from food service conglomerate bags or cans. I'm not looking for more frozen potatoes deep fried. If the coleslaw isn't being chopped back there and doused with grandma's dressing, I've got better things to do.
The staff were kind, honest, and did their best while dealing gracefully with being understaffed. I cared for the team and left growth mindset feedback for the...
Read moreMenu is strange-beans, coleslaw and potato wedges at a pizza place?! The place is very noisy and unorganized. We got side salads-just bagged iceberg with pizza veggies on it. It wasn’t brought out before our food, even though we waited awhile for our food and the tables were really small so we were struggling not to knock something off the table. We got a pizza, a pasta and a chicken basket. The chicken strips were very thin and dry, 2-3 would be the width of one Cane’s tender. We joked that they looked like frog legs. I asked about the chicken basket because it wasn’t brought out with the rest of the food and the waitress said the kitchen was working on it but she was really annoyed. I told her I only asked because usually all of the entries are brought out at once. The pizza was okay. I would order it to-go. The pasta was not good flavor or quality. We had the rudest waitress. She gave me a hard time when I said I wanted chicken fettuccine. She said you want pasta. You need to say pasta first. I didn’t respond so she repeated herself a 3rd time. I should have left then. I wasn’t even 1/2 way done eating and she brought the check. She stood there for a few minutes waiting for me to pay. I didn’t. She came back a few minutes later and asked if anything was wrong with the check. I paid so she would leave me alone. She had a hand device and watched me tip. I think this was because I had already complained to the manager about her being rude after we ordered so I think she was trying to pressure me for the tip. It was a stressful meal as a single mom with two teens who had just spent 10 hours driving in the car. We were really looking forward to eating out and to be honest it was below mediocre. I tried to be polite to her but she just kept finding new ways to be rude. We live near DFW and eat out regularly. This restaurant wouldn’t thrive in a large city with...
Read moreIt’s rare I leave a review but our experience was terrible. We ordered pizza and wings through DoorDash on Saturday night and we fully understand that is a busy night for pizza ordering, which we expected about an hour wait or so. An hour into waiting, with no update on DoorDash we called the store. A literal child answered the phone. I’m not talking like a young employee working their first job, this was like a 10 year old. He said “your pizza is probably on its way” and didn’t check, he said they were really busy so we just let it go and kept waiting. Still with no update on the DoorDash app an hour later (this is two hours into waiting), we called again. A younger guy answered and he finally checked our order status for us and said “your pizza should be there any minute.” It did end up arriving five minutes later but there was never any update on DoorDash and they didn’t follow my directions on the DoorDash app of where to leave the order so I had to go to every door in my apartment building to find it. On top of that, it was cold and we threw the wings away without eating them because we didn’t trust that they were held at temperature for the correct amount of time. Two hours is just way too long of a wait with no update. This isn’t the first time we waited almost two hours, it seems like every time we order from there it takes forever. The pizza is good but not that good. Will be ordering from somewhere else...
