TL;DR: Great coffee but combative and arrogant barista defiant and unwilling to make easy and accessible drink adjustment to ensure customer safety.

I'll start off saying the coffee is great, there's no question about that. However, the young woman making drinks the morning I went was combative to say the least. I ordered a triple shot americano with a splash of cream, an easy enough drink. She told me she "can't" do that, she can only do two or four shots. I said I'm fine paying for four, and just don't put the fourth in. She refused. She said their machine only pulls two shots into one container at a time. Cool, easy enough, I spent four years running a coffee shop, I get it, just pour half of the second pull of two shots out to make three total. She again, defiantly refused, then began to arrogantly explain (very incorrectly) that it would result in a "horrible" taste because it would mean only pouring the crema at the top or "oils" at the bottom in the drink. This is factually inaccurate, as the oils are mostly in the crema, not the heart/bottom of a shot; and it's also very irrelevant for an iced drink of any sort because the shots are disturbed in the pouring process and don't required a layered consumption. After once again saying I don't mind, I know what I am asking for, please just accommodate the request, the young man at the register got her to do so. Upon picking up my drink she refused to acknowledge me and when I told her "thank you" she ignored me and walked away.

I get it, you're a barista and particular about how you make a drink. I've been there, I spent four years ensuring the success of a coffee shop. However, when you so defiantly refuse to accommodate someone you are showing you prioritize your desire to be the authority over their experience more than you desire to be accessible and safe for customers. Many folks have specific reasons, many times health reasons, that they consume very certain amounts of caffeine. Your defiance and arrogance shows your ableist mindset and that you would rather put customers in a dangerous situation than accommodate their request. I had the pleasure of visiting Pure Bean Coffee House regularly while living in Rapid City and I must say, it was a delightful experience every time. From the moment you walk in, you’re struck by the cozy and welcoming atmosphere of the café. The décor was tasteful and charming, with plenty of comfortable seating options for both individuals and groups.

As a coffee lover, I was particularly impressed by the quality of the coffee served at Pure Bean Coffee House. Each cup was expertly brewed and had a rich and bold flavor that was truly satisfying. What's more, the baristas were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their craft, and were happy to share their insights on different blends and brewing techniques. If you’re especially lucky, you can even catch the owner or one of the roasters (because they roast their beans in-house) and hear even more about what goes into their coffee.

In addition to the coffee, I was also impressed by the quality of snacks and baked goods available at Pure Bean Coffee House. Whether you're in the mood for a sweet treat or a savory snack, there's something for everyone on the menu. Extra points if you’re lucky enough to try one of the Bierocks, but they often sell out in hours after being made fresh.

Overall, I highly recommend Pure Bean Coffee House for anyone looking for a great cup of coffee in a comfortable and inviting setting. Whether you're a local or just passing through Rapid City, this café is definitely worth a visit. Although I do recommend their coffee, I feel they are not business savvy. I came in with my tea cup puppy in my arms and was rudely told to leave. There was nothing stated anywhere that dogs were not allowed. Had they had it posted on the door, I wouldn't have brought the puppy in. Since it wasn't posted anywhere, these posses questions in my mind if they pick and choose if dogs can be brought in depending on who is working. Most businesses post on their door if they do not allow dogs. When I say rudely I mean, I was literally embarrassed. You can get your point across by being nice and professional without embarrassing a customer. The whole situation would not have happened if I knew before I walked in, that I couldn't carry in a 2 pound puppy. There is more to running a business than just selling good products. Customer Service is actually what makes a business. That is why people read reviews. I would suggest if you don't want dogs in your business then please post outside your door.
