Upon entering (from the side :), you walk into a museum of great old memorabilia-nothing fancy, real life toys, games, music, etc. Took us back! An old menu on the wall had handwritten prices- $1.40 B.L.T, $0.90 cheeseburger! Just wow!!! We think Ron himself sat us at our table! Our waitress Lorna was AWESOME! We asked questions, and she had answers for everything! Bless her heart for being so patient! She knew we were not local hahaha! Loved her…. She lost a step when she started to question us being Cowboys fans, but she quickly made up lost ground when she said she did not like the Eagles! Hahaha! This place was all that and more! Hole-in-the-wall for sure and definitely worth going back!
We ordered: Breakfast bowl— the sliced potatoes in this plate were to die for or at least break every diet created!
Hot Hamburger w/fries instead of mashed potatoes-brown gravy… did not get pics but the plates were empty!
Breakfast Burrito- just wow!
2eggs, hashbrowns, toast- added crispy bacon, and the gravy from breakfast bowl!
You will get nothing short of a grand, hard working American, tasty and delightful experience at Ron’s Cafe. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Rapid City! Lorna is the current owner and waitress of this establishment. She is is a picture of true America. Her customer service is second to none ensuring your coffee cup is always full. If you’re a regular, she’ll call you by name.
The atmosphere is enough to inspire Norman Rockwell himself. They have old relics on the wall beside pictures that depict a western feel. If you want a picture of a small town cafe in the second largest city in SoDak, Ron’s is the place.
The food is excellent! Come hungry, as their portions are big. The lunch specials come with a slice of dessert, soup or salad and they serve breakfast anytime.
If you want support a great local restaurant make Ron’s a must stop. There’s a reason people are waiting to be seated. Ron’s plate is...
Read moreMy Mom and I visited Rapid City for a week of sightseeing in the area in June of 2022. We mostly made breakfast at the rental we stayed at, but on the last day were looking for a local breakfast place before driving home. Ron's was Perfect! The people (staff and regulars) were so friendly, and the food was reasonably priced and so delicious. This is truly a hidden gem in Rapid City. I had the homemade corned beef hash and eggs with marble rye toast, and my plate was nearly dishwasher-clean when I finished. Yummmm! I never reached the bottom of my coffee cup before someone asked if I would like more. Mom had eggs, sausage with raisin toast and said that if we had discovered Ron's when we arrived, we would have skipped making breakfast at the cabin! Awesome...
